The datto... Ideas..

Post by Dundee1000 »

Hi guys,
this EFI stuff is all new to me..
I've always been sidraught carbies for the win..

I've picked up some Bike throttlebodies to fit onto the Datto. A15,

I've got an old Michrotech D4 ecu,

I was thinking mabee the Delco setup off a JE or an Astra would be a more reliable setup on the Dat..

have you guys got any thoughts or ideas what i should look for, ECU and for tuning???

cheers, Mike :study:

Welcome to the forums  First up check out another members buggy that is powered by a datto engine .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =16&t=1006

The getting started guide as a heap of info, but the camira/astra setup using an '808 ECU would certainly be the easiest solution. Are you intednding on running a common plenum at all? If not then MAP sensor based systems such as the delco do not really work that well, you need a alpha-n system where TPS is the load input.

you can join the 4 TB's together with hoses between each and get the sizes right to form a vacuam plenum to take out the vacuam signal pulses its been done a lot before there is a website with how to calculate the lengths and sizes roughly enough to work pretty good .i have a 383 chev thats about to get the same 8 TB's

Im on the same boat as young Dundee1000 here. In fact we are both on the same track as far as conversions go, except my project plans to be boosted.

the delco 808 from what i have already read here seems like the unit to go for.
the 808 can run the fuel and spark timing and boost with the right programming. (i think)

We have been talking about using motorbike TBs and injector setups with custom manifolds to suit. For the boost, a tapered log style plemum chamber connect back to the FMIC is may plans. Dundee i believe is happy with NA.

Im keen to tackle the programming from a learning [point of view, and help out Dundee at the same time.

Im in "talks" with a car supplier that sould be able to give me at least a half dozen or so delcos from commodores mostly. Likly to be all V6 autos i spose, so is there anythying that i should not waste my time with or should i just hunt for a late Cameria unit.

cheers

The ECUs are the same, there is a couple of resistors on the memcal that put the fuelling controller in the right mode for the number of cylinders. If you are running a realtime board, then you can pick the number of cylinder with that, or you can remove the v6 knock boards and solder on a couple of resistors to convert a v6 memcal to a 4 cyl one. I noticed at my local wreckers there seems to be a lot of N13 pulsars with 808s and the 4cyl memcals going through, and people just dont seem interested in them, they always seem to have the ecus sitting there untouched.

a 4 into 1 plenum works for map sensor, have seen it done successfully loads of times, what i would like to know is would a delco tps work with itb's? as in, mounted on a shaft with 4 butterflies as opposed to mounted on a single tb with 1 butterfly, would the ecu still be able to read this?

delcowizzid, do u have a link to that website?
