Very basic question. Ive burnt some changes to my tune, but noticed theres no locating lugs on the mem adapter, also noticed theres an off-set pin in the ecu thats not used. Basically im wondering what position the adapter goes in the ecu, and just to be sure the notched end of the eeprom obviously aligns with the notch in the mem adapter yeah?
Also regards burn offset, when i read the original tune from the chip, there was no offset, so i burnt it with none either. Correct?. Its a ddrh 128k bin onto a sst27sf010 vx s/c.
Cheers fellas.

DDRJ which is your base tune is 128k and the 27C010 is also 128k. No offset.

Re: chip orientation in mem adapter
well guys it seems ive occupied myself researching/reading about the wrong stuff. not much point learning about maf tables etc etc when you know cant even get a burnt chip to work lol.
ive burnt and reburnt and verified the chip, but cant get a start. im positive its either something to do with the bin being sucked out with flashtool, or bad memcal, or i dunno. vl400 doctored the bin for me after i sucked it with flash tool, so it should be fine. theres no major changes to the bin just fan settings and idle from my current working tune, its mainly just to make sure ive got the burning sussed, but it appears i havent.
attached pics. the pin with the arrow is unused correct?
the first time i tried no start. second and third reburn no start and fan on. where am i going wrong.

Re: chip orientation in mem adapter
The extra pin is the write pin used for original factory development. Its not used with a normal read only chip. The real time boards do use it though to make it possible to write back to the nvram. In your case it should not be connected.

yeah theres no way the memcal can mount the pin, just curious of its purpose. thanks antus.
just to eliminate the memcal im using as the issue, if i burn a stock vx s/c bin with the vats disabled i should get a start im hoping.

The Only things I can think of is;
Are you putting the memcals in the right way in the programmer?
Are you blank checking before writing?
Making sure you id select the type of memcal & has right offsets for size of it!

Re: chip orientation in mem adapter
Can you read the SST eeprom after writing to it and what does it come up with? I couldn't get any of mine to work ing the base. Out of the base they would work fine for read and write.
If that SST memcal is the one I sent you just throw it in the bin lol.
You will need to use the factory style memcal I sent you the 2nd time

if it's one of mine it should work, i test them before they go out. Let me know if there's an issue.
