going over 100ve. reduce kinjflow or increase injector volt

Post by V8hilux »

I am having all sorts of problems dialing in the 80lb injectors to ose12p v111.

If i do the calculation for kinjflow on 80lb injector i get 0.039. If i punch in 0.039 into the correct field in scalers, I now need over 100 ve to get it in the ballpark.

Looks like i have 2 options:

increase the kinjflow to 0.05 which gets me up into the 90ve's but could make other calculations by ecu wrong???
or
keep 0.039 kinjflow and increase the injector bias vs battery voltages by a large amount to get the ve's down into a usable range.

I was also having trouble with engine going lean with a hot engine so today i started the car and let it get quiet hot and I could see the wideband going lean as the engine got hot, apon closer look it is not the engine temp that was making the engine go lean... it was the battery volts dropping that was causing it.
the usaul battery voltage i am seeing is 13.4 or so but when the engine bay gets really hot the battery volts (according to tunerpro dash) drop to 13.1. The volts dropping match the engine going lean so i think i am getting a win with that temp af problem that has been troubling me with this tune.

So,

What should i do with the kinjflow not doing what i want?

thanks

i honestly think if you are seeing .3 v drop in battery voltage its not going to be enough to effect the injectors that much ..... i guess the question is how lean is your engine going ?

if you have a faulty alternator or wiring issue you really need to get that sorted, yeah sure you can change the injector voltage offset, but its not the right way to go about it ..... that said you need to have the right numbers in there to suit the injectors in the first place, so if you don't it could be the issue.

I got the injector vs voltage numbers from siemans and put them in.

The engine runs at around stoich just fine but when the bay heats up, for an example... yesterday i started up and drove 20 odd kms to town and stopped to get a few things in a shop for say 15 mins. jump in car and she is running at 17:1 at idle and lean everywhere else. stop for a few hours and all is good untill the engine gets hot agin.

This is very repeatable and predictable. PITA

to give an idea of the bay heat, my battery is bulged already and not very old. As wires get hot they carry less volts and my bay has plenty of wire..lol

all ve learns are off, closed loop disabled, most temp vs afr disabled etc.

What about manifold air temp?? That will change the fuel a fair bit too, idling will see manifold temp rise heaps.

i let everything heat up today while i watched everything to try to find the problem, the problem doesnt seem to happen until my bay gets hot, batt dropped from 13.4 to 13.1/13v manifold temp was allowed to get up a bit above 100 as with the coolant.

I started with a wideband reading of 12.0 with a dead cold engine, the wideband continued to rise/lean slowly as everything got hot. where is the manifold air temp correction graph that i should alter?

The problem could well be with the charge temp because the drastic change in AF happens when the water to air cooler becomes soaked with a hot engine shutdown like at the shop yesterday. I can't seem to find a manifold air temp correction graph anywhere? but the wideband does go lean with increasing mat/coolant temp and reduced battery volts

look for CATFAC table

The only thing i am able to find in 12p that affects af ratio vs temperature is the injector bias vs volts... is there also one for manifold air temp or charge temp that is disguised with a funny name somewhere???

I already have the af ratio vs temps disabled.

CATFAC,?? never seen it?

I am running ose12p with the 123bar tune petrol adx
