you may have too much crank fuel on hot start up and its wetting a plug or all plugs and making it miss which will make the wideband read really lean until it clears and starts firing properly.same happens at wot you add fuel it gets leaner misses more so you add more cause it looks lean and it gets even worse the wideband reads all the unburnt air from the miss
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

to be honest i think id look at why you dont have 14-14.2 volts while its running
check your voltage at the battery with a volt meter and see if it has proper voltage there
you should have over 14 volts at the battery
If you dont have the 14 volts at the battery consider a bigger alternator and possibly putting a smaller pulley on to gear it up a bit
if you do have 14 volts at the battery then you should have the same at the ecu if its wired correctly so you may have a dodgy power supply or crook earth, relay or whatever
Your always going to have a lower voltage directly after cranking till the alt replenishes the charge that the starter took to crank it but it should rise pretty quickly
its not uncommon for people to wire off existing switches to run the delcos but u should use a decent size fresh wire for the main power and earth and use a relay on the switched ign +

Re: going over 100ve. reduce kinjflow or increase injector v
I will do some tests on the volts today, thanks for the heads up.
From memory, I think i took the power for the ecu from the old hilux (97 ln106 dualcab 4x4 2.8 diesel) wiring harness that powered the injector pump fuel cutoff solenoid.
Yes, In that log info I posted, it does show that there is a leanout either with temp or drop in volts as it goes from 14 afr at 13.4 volts and goes to 14.5 afr or so at 13.2/3 volts so that could mean i need to adjust the injectorbiasvs battery volts a little to try to get that right... or maybe the gas law one at the higher temperature where i see the slight leanout... even while engine still running. or it could even be that when the engine goes slightly lean with a hot engine due to me having a "chunk" of ve cells in the idle region all the same ve instead of fine tuning every single one. I say that because the ve cell it uses for idle drops from the 40kpa range when cold into the 30kpa range so I may need to look at that also.
I have always had battery trouble in this car, they never seem to last more that 12 months... wether it's the heat in the bay or all the accessories or vibrations i don't know. The battery is in the main airstream from the radiator and cops the lot and even though it is not very old, the sides are bulged already.
it winds for a long time to start, 15ms pulse width. not sure what it should be with the 80lbers but maybe it's too much... i fiddled with it to try to get it firing up quicker but didn't seem to do anything. I am referring to the first and second stage cranking, are these even the right ones for startup?
Thanks for the help men.

Re: going over 100ve. reduce kinjflow or increase injector v
now that you mention it with rich at startup making it go lean...hmmm, I have 0.60/0.50ms for idle. 15ms for startup first stage, and 2.5ms or so for second stage.
is there some kind of educated guestimate ratio from idle pulsewidth to cranking pulsewidth. like 3x idle for startup or 10x idle for startup... or maybe less, like:.0.5ms for startup??? have i got it all wrong on the 1st and second stage cranking? it takes a lot of winding to fire up.

I'll do my test again but this time i will only give it 30 seconds from shutdown to restart and see if it is lean then... if so could be the rich cranking, if it is still good afr... I need to keep looking.

You need to setup single pulse mode, the idle pulse widths are way too low. It sounds like you have not set it up correctly if idle pulse widths are 0.5mS. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... ire#p17596
And with 80lb injectors you will also need to scale the cranking tables if you have not done so already - the injector rate does not change any table that has injector pw in ms. As a start point with 80lb injectors your prob going to need to divide by 3 or so all the values in the table.
Might also help posting logs and your bin to help diagnose it easier

Re: going over 100ve. reduce kinjflow or increase injector v
you shouldnt have a chunk of cells around the idle VE all the same they should be staggered as per factory table
the ve calc is derived from the 4 surrounding cells closest to your actual position on the ve map.....
this is not necessarily your problem buy your ve map needs to show consistant slope as the ve isnt the same in those cells
your trying to cheat and its not going to do the right thing unless you do it right as the engine wont use the same fuel at 45kpa as 50 kpa for eg
also by disabling as much of the temp compensation stuff as u can as stated previously your probably not doing yourself any favors there either

Re: going over 100ve. reduce kinjflow or increase injector v
I have just tried something "different" and I'll see what happens now...
I started the car, let the engine get real hot waited for the leaner afr's....AND... THEN adjusted the ve table to get the mixtures I want, instead of doing it just warm.
I suppose now she'll be rich as hell when it gets cold again..Can I then change other tables to get it leaned out before it gets to the hot temps? prolly what i shoulda done in the first place... If I had the cash ttvn, I'd be knocking on your door in 2hrs.lol.
how hot do you blokes normally get the engine before changing the ve tables?
