Need some advice 1965 XP falcon 250 turbo

Post by gravelrash »

hi there,
im new to this so please be gentle. i have a 65 XP falcon which i have fitted a 230 xflow to. I have been mucking around with blow thru carbs for the last couple of years and have now decided to go the efi route, purely for ease of tuning.
my setup so far
250 xflow
Quick fuel 650ban carb
msd 6al ignition
holset turbo

whats planned and what i already have
JE camira harness and 808 ecu
camira coil
all sensors
ford 6 injector rail
magna and also LS1 injectors
LS1 throttle body
camira fuel pump

*my mate used Kalmaker on a hotrod project a few years ago but im sure there must be cheaper and easier ways around it nowadays.
what do i need to do to my ecu, cables to purchase, software to download etc etc.

If you know someone whos done kalmaker, essentially the hardware is the same, so you would build it up the same. But the software we have here is free, and the tuning part is windows based.

keep the 6al and coil you run now it can all still be used you will only need a camira ignition module and the ignition system will be done.youll need a pump bigger than the camira fuel pump and bigger injectors than the bluetops or LS1 ones as well.apart from that just coolant sensor IAT sensor a throttle body with the right tps and an IAC valve an an o2 sensor if you want to use one may as well buy a new one
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Biggest injectors that I'm aware of are:
ford turbo 6........................~29lb/hr (may also be used on standard 6 cyl (BA/FG) based on some websites http://www.injectorsonline.com/indivpro ... 74&scid=11)
holden supercharged V6 (L67)..36lb/hr
Magna blue tops are about 24 and LS1 about 25 depending on model.

That is one sweet looking falcon!

Some old mercs have big bosch fuel pumps (Bosch '984 is one from memory and can supply a fair bit of fuel), but for about 150 bucks you can get a new Bosch '044 and wont have any fuel supply issues or dodgy old pumps.

90-92 Saab 9000 turbos run 33lb injectors.
Earlier ones only have 24lb injectors though.

thanks for the help fellas. today has been eventful to say the least. i have removed the unecessary wires from the Camira harness, then started pulling apart the XP.
So far on my mockup engine i have been playing with fuel rails from XF`s and ED`s and also where i can place the throttle body.

sorting through my parts i have a VL fuel pump and a set of 42lb "skinny type" injectors, so looks like i will be using them.

*is there such a thing as a screw in injector mount for a "skinny" injector?

thanks again Greg
