Re: tuning help?
added fuel through injector rate constant in 5,200 and 5,600 at 850mgc and dropped the timing to 5degrees betwenn 5,200 and 5,600 and i still get kr.
im starting to think ill just wait till i have a W2A cooler before tuning it....

Re: tuning help?
its possible that it might not even be legitimate knock..... alot of motors you can't even use the knock sensor above 4000rpm or so cause they are just too noisy in the valve train .... it could be a timing chain noise or something like that which is doing it....
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: tuning help?
yer its not knocking but the kr is pulling timing down to 0.
i guess its a good thing safety wise for the engine. basically i want to get rid of it as a learning curve i guess? if that makes sense
would upping the timing to compensate the kr work? or not safe to do?

Re: tuning help?
Its interesting you say that i get completely random knock retard sometimes at high rpm which could not be cured by even the fattest a/f and near nothing spark, which ive kind off dismissed as knock sensor hearing the valves hitting the seat hard and fast from the cams aggressive grind combined with the 105 springs as ive never heard an audible ping even with a quiet exhaust. The timing chain i have is a double row and they go on tighter then a nanna so it wouldnt be that. The other thing with commodores apparently is the passenger engine mount which i can hear and feel slam down if i floor it and back right off in first not good.Holden202 wrote:its possible that it might not even be legitimate knock..... alot of motors you can't even use the knock sensor above 4000rpm or so cause they are just too noisy in the valve train .... it could be a timing chain noise or something like that which is doing it....
So drift i guess where stuffed if we get false kr as apparently you can only adjust kr settings with kalmaker at this stage for our cars anyway.

ive just had a look at the bins, if you use DULW it has burst knock disabled in the factory tune, the older ones had it enabled.

Re: tuning help?
here are the 2 logs i've taken with a edited DULW. i've had a play with advance in the lower revs and it feels like it picks up through low to mid revs a bit better at 50% tps. most of my time i've spent on the higher revs. and i figured im not getting actual knock so if i go higher with advance and the kr doesnt drastically increase i should be safe. the tune in the car now the advance is at 9degrees between 5200-5600/mgc.
no burst knock ay? thats good!

Re: tuning help?
well stock ecotecs run average of 9deg tops, so supercharged should be less than that. I would be expecting say 6deg tops perhaps?

here's the vy s/c xdf ive added ESC stuff, obviously at your own risk playing with ESC stuff, id suggest perhaps increasing the recovery rate slightly and see if that helps. If you can get it to run knock free at 5-6 deg your doing good id say.
