rev limiter sounds like shit ?

Post by V8hilux »

ha ha,

when i hit the limiter... it sort of does the Broom Broom but the Brooms are too far apart from each other and sounds like shit.

I've seen a few of the pro burnout cars and their limiter sounds real good because the brooms are really close together. ha ha, not a real good explanation i know but you know what i mean.

What should i be changing in ose12p to get the closer together broom brooms ?

What settings have you got for the 12P rev limit items?

It will never be super fast as you can only turn off fuel to all cyl. The carb guys would be dropping a single cyl and roating through so the plugs dont foul, progressivly dropping more and more cyl as the revs go higher. Later sequential injection ECUs can drop single injection events with the same type of process.

Wouldn't most of those guys have ignition based limiters rather than fuel?

I've got:

soft fuel cut upper rpm...5800
rpm below upper threshold to start soft fuel cut... 100 rpm
multiplier for soft fuel cut time.....0.13
rpm below upper threshold to start ignition retard....150 rpm
soft touch rev limit advance reduction..... 5.98 degrees

it's a trivial thing but i like the faster sound...

I set the "RPM below upper threshold to start soft fuel-cut" at 50 or 100 rpm below the RPM limit & it is hard to pick from outside the car.

Try turning off the soft cut stuff. Zero out everything and just leave the hard cut to whatever you want the rev limit at.

Its also going to sound different free revving vs under load.

What's the safest way ? cut the juice or the spark?

Would she run lean on the limiter if i cut the fuel only?

the spark timing reduces the timing to take some of the power away while the engine is still running. The idea is that you should feel the soft spot and change gears without having a hard cut. Its not what everyone wants though. The fuel cuts all fuel, not some of it, so it will not lean out, it'll just bounce of the limiter like you want "braaaaap braaaaap braaaaap braaaaaap" with no power reduction leading up to it. A little heavyer on the drive train under load, and can cause loss of traction depending where and how your driving but yeah... not the end of the world.

Thanks Men,

I'll have a fiddle with it tomorrow and see what she sounds like.

Running an auto so should take out a bit of the shock... maybe...
Thanks.
