Re: VR V8 auto to T5 conversion
All the information I have read (overload) here and on other forums and talking to tuners I came to the conclusion that having the vss talk to the auto pcm is a better option. Not a bad price for that
I'm happy with the price considering there is every chance in the long run I will save the outlay on fuel.
Found someone local to me that for a very reasonable price will turn off all the auto error codes.
Might get stuck into the conversion this weekend now I think i've got most obstacles sorted.

Re: VR V8 auto to T5 conversion
im pretty sure someone on here has posted that one of the pins on the auto pcm can be run off the manual type speed sensor unsure of details though
its a pin thats not listed in the factory wiring diagrams from memory as its not used
EDIT: actually think it might have been referenced to the later pcm not the vr type

Re: VR V8 auto to T5 conversion
i wonder if a low voltage electromagnetic kickback circuit would work with this since the pcm is looking for the +- -+ crossing in the waveform
you could possibly just connect the 5v output to a normal automotive relay and connect the pcm wires to the neg and pos of the relay trigger wirees where the neg and 5V is connected to
when the relay is triggered the coil would charge then release the kickback which would pass under 0 volts then stablize back to zero and the pcm shouls read the + to - crossover
would probably have to put a resistor in to limit current through the pcm
any thoughts??

It should work, have tested in the past and you must have the negative pulse before it will trigger. Will try it out

Conversion done. The speedo healer does it's job communicating with the speed sensor although it needs a slight calibration change as the speedo is approx 6-8 klms out.
Thanks also to vn5000 for his work on the memcal.
Much happier with a manual!
