as promised, lame videos :D

First Run - spluttered off the line but then came good.

Second Run - you can hear it drop a cylinder and struggle to run properly just as i finish the burnout.

Bad luck with the gasket, but as they say, "that's motor racing".
It should still run ok if the afr is at 4, the blown v6 still runs without spluttering into the low 3s(afr).
I've found that with methanol & the Holden 6,to keep the timing around 34°-36° & the plug gaps around .040", because of the volume of fuel, unless you have an ignition that can supply a better spark(Crane,MSD etc.)

well as of about 30 minutes ago shes alive! heads back on, did some die grinding in the chambers to try and drop a bit of comp and also to de-burr any sharp edges that might be contributing to pinging ..... acl race series gasket on and im confident .... i think eheheh...

we found a few minor issues that might have contributed to the blow out, so all remedied and hopefully smooth sailing .... going to arrange the dyno in the next week or so, so i will finally have a proper timing map for this methanol breathing 202 and hopefully get some more reliability!

i reckon if it fails again i'll nearly be ready to scrap it and put the LS1 in hehehe ... nah need to get a good time from the 202 :punk:

actually thats the next job, removed the 4.11's from the diff at my mates shed yesterday arvo, so will rip into that job today maybe and yeah it should get me nicely up in the revs!

my mate is taking his speedway car to the dyno with the new chev in it this week so i will be talking to the dyno guy and finding out when he can fit me in too :driving:

well all done, 4.11's in and did a re-torque of the head gasket, time to visit the dyno and get a decent timing map for this thing!

well the dyno has been run and done ..... very mixed results but some good outcomes.

firstly, the dyno owner asked me if i wanted him to run it up and do the usual checks before we started tuning and i said yeah why not. so this showed up the low rpm missing i saw at the track, even on mid kpa loads (50-60kpa) and even after tuning fuel and spark. So we tried to close the spark gap right up to see if that made any improvement and maybe it was better but virtually no change.

so then we decided to try a bosch HEI coil to see if that would improve the spark and remove the issue, this ended in the nvram appearing to be corrupt and limp mode ..... game over as i didn't take a spare ecm or anything to re-program the nvram with.

so the positives to all this you might be wondering...

1. well i found out that the miss is not fuel or spark related as i had first thought and would most likely have taken ages to work that out on the track!
2. we removed 6 degrees timing from what it had when i went there just to start safe and it still managed to make 189hp once we pushed through the miss to higher rpms!

so i think once i can work out the spark issues it will be quite healthy ... even if the HP stays where it is i'll be happy cause i was only hoping for 200hp :P

so the plan is to get another coil on it and go for a spin up the road or something to see if i can sort the miss if i can then i'll be going back to the dyno to try and finish my tune!

well after changing everything in the ignition system i eventually found the miss .... leads :wall:

so i got a set street fire msd leads which are DIY so you have the plug end already on them and then just cut them to length for the dizzy end .... about 30 minutes later and shes away!

i've ordered a new rotor button and dizzy cap and hopefully will not see another issue!

i'm also going to put the original camira coil back on and take the one in the pic above with me just in case ....

well its amazing what you can do with a new set of leads :punk:

ended up with 199.7hp but the overall figure is not so much of the story, the graphs when it was missing compared to when it was running sweet tell the tale!

as you can see in the below picture, the first run thats all wavy is the other week when it was missing, you couldn't really notice the miss up high but it showed up on the graph, then the next line above it was when i got there tonight and the top one is after dualing in the fuel and timing.
dyno1.jpg
also got a video for jayme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPa6fyqINJE

oh and i dynoed it with 30 thou plug gaps, and then after we finished i threw a set of 60 thou plugs in it and it was very slightly missing and made about 190hp .... so weather thats the camira coil can't keep up to it or what im not sure, but it runs fine with 30 thou gaps so i'll stick with that!

hopefully tomorrow some time i'll put up some before and after timing maps and stuff for those interested.

oh and the head gasket is still in the motor .... very successful night, now bring on some off street drags!
