fuses check out ok, but will replace anyway, i know sometimes the damage is not visible.

Re: ecu problem could use some advice
Its strange how the car runs fine but wont idle. I would think if theres no power to the usb board then it wouldnt run at all. Every other function in the car is working fine. This could be assosiated with not being able to connect to the ecu whilst the engine is running. Any other ideas? If i cant get this ecu working properly ill swap in another, if that fails i might end up with a plug in aftermarket ecu like the wolf v500 which i really dont wanna do im heaps keen to get my head around 12p. but at the same time dont wanna be pissing around with an unstable setup when the new engine goes in, that would put a real downer on an exciting time.

The blue LED on the USB board will only be on when your PC is plugged in - it does not get power from the ECU. The NVRAM blue LED will be on when the map_sw jumper is installed, will be on when the key is on and if all is working ok will stay on for ~2 seconds after key off.

Yep sorry was referring to the nvram led. Which just started flashing then went out check engine light on fan on. Ill recheck the jumper might have come loose.

Well vl400 your on the money as always. Took the map.switch jumper off opened up the legs a bit pushed back on a bit firmer problem solved. I did cast my eye over the jumpers but they where all there so moved right along. Thanks mate

I was wondering what could possibly make that LED flashsprattzvx wrote:Well vl400 your on the money as always. I was thinking maybe a toasted ECU supplying intermittant power to the memcal socket, good to hear it was much simpler than that
I often find that threatening electronic devices with replacement by a competing brand/model makes them start working - or walking past them with a hammer in hand gets the message across too

Re: ecu problem could use some advice
yeah just coincidentally the jumper came loose straight after replacing the coil pack which needless to say threw me a red herring naturally assuming the coil pack was related. i guess when the jumper comes loose the map switches to the original memcal but with no iac control? after repositioning the jumper it took a couple of revs to get the iac settled to a nice idle. another lesson learned, and yes threatening replacement often helps
thought replacing the coil pack might fix my non logging/tuning with engine running but luck

Re: ecu problem could use some advice
nah map switch off just maps it to the other half of the nvram, assuming you programmed it with a 4x stacked bin then it would just have ran on a stock tune from the untouched half of the nvram, if you didnt program that half of it then it may have not been running any code at all.
