That's exactly right, Holden202. That's why I wanted to post this to show the members how much it costs when you don't have a clue what you're doing and get ripped off. Keep up the DIY. It's worth it

Re: Delco probie
running backwards in drive is a bit weird, sounds like a gearbox control issue or something similar ... i dunno where to tell you to take it, i know if you go to holden it will likely cost alot!
do you get any error codes come up or anything ? do you have a scan tool to plug into it ?

Re: Delco probie
I don't have a scanner for that unfortunately but I checked today with someone who has...... only one code showed which basically indicated a very general "transmission error".....he put the car in drive and floored it...took straight away but very sluggish...thought maybe a shift solenoid stuck or failed....transmission fluid has been drained and replaced and an additive to soften seals added...so far seems to have worked.
Thought the torque converter had failed but the oil was not burnt and no other codes came up after 28km run.....have to try a 100km run tomorrow...all very wierd as no obvious faults.
Of greater concern was the talk of the bosch motronic ecu blanking themselves after 5 years of service...this car is older than that and still going OK (minus the transmission)..ever heard of anything like that??
PS been following the building of the vehicle trailer....excellent job!!...looks great.
as for the torana on it....those are really good times..

Re: Delco probie
being a berlina that would most likely be the 190kw motor and the 5 speed auto ? how many km's is on it ?
*touch wood* i've done 190,000kms in mine and not had one issue.
