VX For Speedway??

Post by valiant »

Hi all

Ive tried searching thru the forums but cant really find an answer to my question hence the post.

Ive got a VX commodore that im looking at turning into a speedway car , my problem is tho....

A) I want to set up a standard power on/off ie Ignition switch
B) Put in a starter button
c) Bypass the Vats as I dont think anyone will be needing this again soon lol

Any help would be great guys , and like I said searched but couldnt find any answers.

Please be gentle with a newbie ;)

Disabling VATS is as simple as changing a single bit, can reflash the PCM yourself using the flashtool and an ALDL interface or can send it to me and can reprogram it for you.

The other two things are just up to you and how you wire it up.

what class are you running it in ?

as far as i understand it all street stockers using ecotec motors have to run them on a vn computer which is sealed and not allowed to be modified.

just check first because you may have to comply to those things, if its not street stocker then i have no idea on the rules :P

if i can grab an address of you ill post it , cause I have NFI how to do it lol

would you also need/able to tell the PCM? to turn traction control off?

Thanks once again

i'm with this bloke. have a good read of the rules and/or speak to whoever is going to be inspecting it before doing anything. you may even have to run a vn-vr motor in it.

from what i've seen at the speedway they allow you to run any motor ecotec or pre ecotec but they require you to run a vn-vp computer and it is sealed and can't be modified, and i can tell you from my own experience of putting an ecotec in the torana with a vn computer it needs alot of tuning to be optimal

The class I intend to run in is a run as it was brought out of factory class so the standard VX BCM/PCM???? Should be alright..

Thanks again

Haha have fun picking out the wires you need from the mass bundle your starting with  been there! Should be able to delete the bcm altogether.
Get hold of the wiring diagram https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =32&t=2272
If you want i can put up some pics of how i did my VN Production Saloon
You absolutely must get a copy of the rules you'll be running under - and read them :study:
Build it, Race it, Break/Bend it ; Repeat.

You can only use the corresponding engine to your year model or earlier. e.g VX commodore can use any motor from VX eco back to VN v6, VN commodore can only use VN v6 etc. The best thing to do is try to get a VN / VR loom as they all share the same ecm plug shape as the 808. Theres a few little tricks you can use using resisters to fool the ECM. And also remember you will be loosing your maf and running MAP instead. Engines are stock except allowed to go ".060" oversize on bores, shave up to .060" of heads, camshaft choice is free.
