VZ dash to VY - Fuel gauge problem

Post by Bildo »

Hi guys,
Been reading this forum for a while now and with no luck searching and trying else where I've decided to join and ask. Loving it so far and hopefully some one has a solution for me!

I've installed a VZ 3 window dash (lvl 3 I believe) to my series 2 VY.
All works a treat except for the fuel guage. It runs in reverse, it'll stay on empty (when full) till about the last 1/3rd tank then slowly creep up to full.

Tried installing fuel pump/sender from relevant VZ but doesn't fit. tried multiple other pumps/senders from various models with the same issue.
Holden charged me too much to do nothing and say it needs different fuel pump (tried what they said would work - it didn't)

Apparently this can be fixed with a tech 2 and someone who can drive it.
Anyone in Syd able to show me some light? There is only so many times a bloke can run out of fuel....

Not really the place for this topic....

But you can get a dump off your original cluster & cross reference it to the VZ & should fix the issue!

You'll need a programmer, clip adapter & patience!

Check out car modder forum there's a good vy-vz cluster topic there!

you sure its a VZ dash... for starters it wouldnt plug into a VY unless you modify the plug and secondly VZ dash's get there fuel signal from UART as the guage goes to the PCM not to the dash
