Ok,
So I'm new here and need some advise. I've played around with cars for several years but now want to get into the tuning side of things
I'm doing some research into HP from injectors. A rule of thumb I heard along time ago was - Injector LB's convert to CC /5 x number of cylinders. For example a stock VP V6 Commodore makes 127kw / 170 Hp @ engine and use 19LB fuel injectors.
So 19LB = 199.5/5*6 = 239 potential HP. Factor in maximum 80% duty cycle and you get = 191 Max HP
Does that sound about right???
Cheers
Fuel Injector Sizing
Re: Fuel Injector Sizing
horsepower x .55 then number of injectors x .85 then divide the second number into first number.the answer will be each injector rating in pounds per hour at 85% duty cycle.eg. 6 cylinder engine 200 flywheel horsepower.200x.55=110 6x.85=5.1 then 110/5.1=21.57.so you could use 22 pounds per hour injectors.this calculation is for petrol.if your running eflex fuel aka e70-85 replace .55 with .77 in the calculation.your calc sounds right im just use to working it out with imperial measures.
