Thats my concern also, wiring is pretty small gauge so wouldnt
think it would draw too much ,just not sure about it.

Heres my project so you get an idead what im doing.
Pretty much made it a hand held device.
The power cable i am splitting so i have 2 different plugs ,i want to use
it in a few different cars vr/vs v8 and vx ls1 just trying to figure out
whats going to be a good power source that i can plug into
and a 2nd plug if the car didnt have obd2 like vn etc.
But if obd2 cant take it im open for sugestions.

Looking very neat  All it needs is a ALDL logger in the bottom half of the box

The last MTX-L I installed in a Toyota started interferring with the radio when taking power off the ciggy lighter plug (which was a 10A fused circuit). The MTX-L uses a 1.2MHz switching regulator and scoping the power wire could clearly see exactly when the heater was on and pulsing after initial heating. Added a ferrite bead from an old monitor cable to the power wire which stopped most of the problem but it was buzzing! Could also add a series inductor and some caps inside your box to act as a filter. I dont think the ~1A of current they draw will be much of a problem over the OBD plug but the switching means large current spikes on small dia wire can be an issue interferring with other devices. Will just have to give it a go.

Thanks vl400 ,aldl logger sounds like a good idea.how would i go about
doing that?
I tried it out tonight using the obd2 plug heats up without
any issues,so so far so good.
will put another (different) plug on though for cars that dont have obd2 port.
Will be an issue too if i want to data log and tune.
Good for a quick setup and check afrs, thats pretty much its purpose with the obd2 port.

Good to hear it worked ok over the OBD connector, makes it really easy to connect up! I would also try the ciggy plug, or have that as an option with another connector, as it should be up to the task. The LM1 has no trouble using it.

The ALDL logger that could fill the space :) https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =80#p23347
