Vy Comm Engine Re-wire

Post by kgg099 »

Hey guys i got a wrecked vy which im taking the engine and trans out and putting it into my bedford van ... i have heard that you need pretty much the whole instrument cluster , ecu and the bcm in my bedford in order for it to turn over ... im just curious if there is another way about going about this ... any information would be good information
cheers heaps

At the bare minimum your going to need the BCM to allow the engine to start but there are a few ways depending on what functions you need.

- You could ditch the BCM and dash by just disabling the antitheft in the PCM. You lose the low speed fan, A/C control, power/econ light and a check engine light.
- You could retain the BCM but will lose the check engine and power/econ light
- Install the instrument cluster and BCM

For options one and 2 I have a BCM simulator to get around the antitheft system and also provide you the low speed fan, check engine light, power/econ light and AC control. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... 05&p=14407

ok so basically .. there will be no abs .. no dash cluster in the project car .. not sure if im using the air con yet .. and no powersteering ... i bascially want just the engine and transmission in and have it start up .. so basic setup hopefully .. will this bcm simulator allow that??

For a very basic setup like your wanting to run you could also just turn off VATS (the anti-theft system) in the PCM and not use the BCM (or sim), would still need to sort out the low speed fan though. But, yes the BCM sim will allow the engine to start up just fine. Will also mean the high speed cooling fan will work like normal.

The BCM sim gets around the antitheft so no PCM mods are needed. Will PM you some details.
