VS-VY Enhanced Factory Bins

Postby The1 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 8:39 pm

Enhanced Mod is based on existing factory code, the enhanced features are extra code or modified code integrated into the factory code.
The main goal of Enhanced Mod is to remove the limitations of the factory system for performance setups and add extra features to aide tuning.

There is a tutorial showing how to flash the VX/VY Flash PCMs from these bins from RKGarage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsIQPc_oe1Y
Note VATS is Disabled on Flash Pcm's If you want vats security re-enabled you must have the PCM and BCM Relinked - Flash PCM's also require the whole bin to be flashed the first time, tuning updates thereafter can be cal only flashes.
When flashing the whole bin it is required that you let OSE Flash Tool correct the checksum. This can be turned on in the User Preferences under "Flash PCM Auto Fix Checksum" before the flash (recommended), or by allowing it to do so when prompted on completion of the flash.

Note that the air flow max is still the same, but this is a great piece of work and huge step forward. One big piece of the puzzle down! This improves the factory bins to be able to handle about 10psi (I think?).

2017 edit: This comment is so 2012 and very much no longer relevant!

CYLAIR isn't a factor anymore really, it does what we need it to do with the existing tables, the MAF and New Spark Table will scale the fuel/spark up from generally where it runs out.

One Vehicle i did testing on was a VT with 16psi Pulley twin W2A mini coolers, ported blower and 1.8 rockers amongst other more minor mods, this was previous to testing spark, we ran a 95mm Delphi MAF, the max hz achieved was 11242hz, so there should be plenty enough room for S/C V6's in the 20+psi range with cam/headwork i would imagine, the cylair on this vehicle ran max at about 3200rpm and 160G/S on MAF. The second vehicle was remote but with standard setup and 10psi pulley and 85mm MAF it only peaks just past the stock 10082hz, so the MAF isn't a real issue, more the cylair and spark control.

I can attach the log if anyone's interested when i get home tonight.

The Spark control is made viable via using the old MAF table area, the current table you see in the first post takes up the entire area, the new MAF table takes the Free space which is normally LPG tables, so to make the new spark table go lower we would need more room, there is room in VT bins as the LPG spark is left blank, but VX VY do not have this.

I am at this stage just wanting to check/recheck things and make sure everything is 100% as it can be. The VY bins i had nearly polished last night so will be released tonight, ill then move to the VT VX.

Because of vehicle access extensive testing just isn't possible hence why i am testing/retesting everything on the bench before release and still labeling this with beta.

Also will have now in the release a ADX monitor which uses the current PROMID label, which is basicly a useless feature for someone using these bins, so i have changed it to spark control modifier, this will then show the amount of spark being applied via the extended spark table.

Here's a snapshot i have on me from the 16psi vehicle, note the spikes are because the BCM is still on the bus. This was prior to spark testing.

Excellent work The1!!!! Coding is something I still struggle to get my head around.
3200rpm and 160g/s on a 6 cylinder equates to 1000mgc, so basically max'd out this parameter. If used with a stroker or more boost you may start running into problems.
