HELP REQUIRED ON VT V6 TURBO TUNE

Post by SEDUCE »

Hey guys i have a daily driver VT shitter that has 260 klm on it, Now i can get my hands on a turbo kit for it very cheap.
Now what i want to do is the most basic turbo kit for it. The kit comes with turbo, oil lines, manifold, cross over pipe, boost tee, now i want to know a couple of things.
The guy ran it on 10 psi on stock engine and stock tune but i dont want to.

i want to know can i run the Supercharged v6 L67 memcal in it and run like 8 -10 psi max? (will also try get some L67 injectors for it)
Like i said this is a daily driver and i just want to do it for fun.
I have 4 other cars that make huge HP, one making 900 hp so this is just for shits and giggles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mainly want to know about the memcal
Thanks guys

I an't chasing big hp all i want is it to be turboed so would be happy with 260hp if it made that i would be happy.

My biggest problem is i live in Central Queensland and no one does this sort of stuff or even tune cars so i am trying me best to do it like said.

Please guys any help would be great.

I did rear many years ago about a green VT in street commodores mag that was turboed and only ran a s/c L67 memcal and ran 7 psi and went good by the mag but i didnt speak to the guy so can only go off what i read.

The L67 memcal will work* providing you have an equivalent fuel system setup (i.e. l67 injectors etc.)
* - the motor will run, but the tune will not be optimal for the turbo setup.

a better option would be to use the VT L67 Enhanced factory bin (see the custom code section) as this can handle more airflow (esp. with a larger MAF) and allow control over spark advance in these high load areas where the factory code cannot.

Are you interested in tuning it yourself?

Thanks for that mate,
Yes i would be if someone told me what to do or look for. I am a mechanic and have my own business but never done any tunning as i always sublet it out.
Ok so what MAF would i need to get and what memcal would it be the standard vt s/c L67 ? is that what BIN means?
Thanks for your help mate
I just done a search and found this from the1

VT $A5F Supercharged

VT SC $A5F.zip$A5F VT V6 S/C Bin & XDF Version 1.00(60.7 KiB)

lol means nothing to me as i got no idea what this means lol

The ".bin" file is the actual binary (hence "bin") data stored in the memcal itself; this contains the operating system and calibration data that is used by the PCM to operate the engine & transmission. We have modified some of the factory software to allow real-time tuning and handle more power (which is what you found from The1).

If one has a chip programmer and UV eraser, they can erase a memcal and write a different ".bin" file to it (this method is fine for one-offs but is slow and tedious for tuning).

Alternatively, the memcal can be replaced with an NVRAM board which can be changed in realtime when you connect a PC to the vehicle's ALDL serial bus.
You need an ALDL interface for this. You can purchase the NVRAM board & ALDL interface in the for-sale section.

The ALDL interface also allows you to do datalogging, so you can see what you the PCM is doing while the vehicle is in operation (like a scantool).

There's plenty of info (and helpful people) on here on tuning.

Summary of things you need to tune the car yourself in realtime:
-Wideband O2 sensor & controller (to monitor the actual air/fuel ratio)
-ALDL interface cable (to communicate with PCM)
-NVRAM board (to allow changes to the PCM's calibration in realtime)

Optional (but very useful):
-chip programmer (to write the initial data to the NVRAM, or to reload the NVRAM if it gets corrupted)
-UV eprom eraser (to erase memcals, so that you can burn your tunes to them!)

charlay86 has summed it up pretty well, some more reading below to help. Also in the first post of the enhanced modified bins is the Delphi MAF part code and link to a splitter cable if your going with a larger MAF.
