Folks
Was chatting with a good friend this morning, and he eluded to his VE shifting like an old 'Ford taxi'
The auto flares between the gears and the shifting is pretty average at best
He's got a VE MY10 6 speed auto - one of the 3.6 litre jobbies wrapped around an SV6 - lovely car.
In these later PCM is anyone aware of whether these employ a flash which can be improved to fix the poor shifting situation ; or ; does anyone know if Holden have released a later version of code to improve the shift pattern?
Any thoughts/help/advice much appreciated.
Any experiences with VE onwards PCM?

Re: Any experiences with VE onwards PCM?
well i don't have the 6 speed auto i have 5 speed auto in a VZ SV6, but i know power shift does make it better (only a bit) but aside from that the VZ 5 speed auto uses a seperate transmission controller and its not able to be programmed like the engine is through HP Tuners, its a shame, would make it a neat package.
one option might be a shift kit like older transmissions, but i'm not really sure on the details of that.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

The TCM can be tuned with EFILive or TunerCATs. You can make it shift alot better with a few changes to pressure and desired shift time.

Thanks Holden202
I think the 6 speeder is a 6L50E now. The LSx use a 6L80E or something similar.
All just derivitives of the 4L60 / R700 I guess.
The yanks don't appear to have much in the way of shift kits for these things. Even the GM truck forums complain about the autos being not able to make up their mind more than my wife. Thanks for the Power Shift note - will try that.
Ejukated. Is there anyone that you know of who can do this specifically?

it's really quite different to the 4Lxx mechanically. Some of the control systems are similar like in the way they do the pressure control and desired shift time.
I'll send you a PM regarding tune.

i'd love to be able to tune the auto, so powershift is a bit more sporty

Yeah, I get jealous everytime I drive a Ford with the ZF gearbox.... there are some shifts, some times that are quite good on the GM 6spd, just have to tweak the tune to get that feel across all the shifts all the time!
It'd be good if someone could write an open source flashing tool and link up with Taxtrix cable or something. Then we could edit with TunerPro.

I believe that 5spd was originally designed by GM for BMW... Think its also in some 5-series. The TCM is some wierdo Seimens thing tho...
