The original bin had some really rich target AFR numbers in it, which I suggest not to transfer, as having a factory AFR table, and PE should get your richnessness under load correct and be better for normal cruising. I suspect the person who originally tuned the car have over richened the AFR table, and has the top end of the VE table too low. Now you have a factory AFR table, its likely that the VE table does need serious top end changes to bring it back in to line. If the wideband is showing the right numbers on the A5 tune then the fuel system and the injectors must be able to handle it.

You can log the A5 tunewith winaldl (sort of), and a different interface but it contains a lot less info and is so slow its not usefull. For tuning Its not worth bothering with.

The earlier code (5D, A5 etc) operates a little differently to the later $12 type code, the early stuff tends to be a little richer in the lower MAP areas. 12P being based on factory $12 code will require the VE to be massaged a bit. But I agree, you are stuffing a heap more fuel in it at WOT.

If I get a chance will setup your original bin on the test bench and log it using the ALDL logger - the aux inputs can be used to map out inj PW vs RPM and MAP easily. Can then get an idea of what your likely going to require in 12P. Still not going to be easy but should be able to get you closer.

Here is a log of last weekends drive.
The old tune ($A5 memcal) is only good after the motor has been running for about 15min and been given a good flogging. So I have reverted back to tuning my own.

I still have a nasty spike around the 2,000 rpm. can been seen at the 53 second mark and again from 1:46 onwards??? still don't know what is causing it....

well im not sure whats happened to change the AFR so much at those points, i don't think the speed sensor not being there would be the issue but im not sure, but i'd try smoothing out this part of the VE Table.
ve table1.jpg
about 65 kpa 2000rpm is where it seems to be and thats the low spot in your ve table

make it something like this and see if it helps.
ve table2.jpg
also noticed your WOT VE's are a bit rich and lean in spots!! :)

Done a bit more tuning and I've nearly gone through a full tank of fuel trying to iron out the same spike/ car shake/ shudder/ hop... whatever you want to call it at 2,000RPM.
I have tried putting more timing in, less timing, more fuel, less fuel and I still cant seem to get rid of it.
I'm convinced there is something over riding the tables at this point and I don't have enough knowledge to determine what it is.

Here is the latest log and bin.
As you can see I've got it running pretty rich just to try and get rid of the spike, until it is gone I don't want to take too much fuel out of it (unless you can convince me it is going to help)

edit: ignore the retardo bit in the VE table at 3,200 rpm

Only got a few mins to check but noticed the fuel cut flag flicking on/off. Checked the rev limit settings and you have a setting that is going to make the car rather unhappy.... Change "Map A: Rev Limit - RPM Below Upper Threshold To Start Soft Fuel-Cut" to 0 and it will run a whole heap better. This is your misfire causing the dodgy AFR readings.

Might be other things but that will make a huge difference.

so if im reading that tune right it will be cutting fuel out from everything 6750rpm BELOW the 6800rpm rev limit ? which pretty much means its always going to be doing it ?

that might explain a few things!

Rrrrrrrright.... now I really feel like a retard.

can you please put in simple terms how the rev limit- fuel cut works?

I thought I was setting it up to soft fuel cut at 6,750 and the die in the arse at 6,800.

the below is the difference, not absolute. So for 6800 and 6750, the values in the tune would be 6800 and 50.

Map A: Rev Limit - RPM Below Upper Threshold To Start Soft Fuel-Cut
So this is the amount of rpm below "Map A: Rev Limit - Soft Fuel Cut Upper RPM Threshold - Above This Is Hard Fuel Cut" to start applying the soft touch rev limiting. so in your case you have hard cut at 6800rpm, you might instead make hard cut at 7000rpm and then set this one as 200rpm, which means 6800rpm it will start soft touch rev limiting (cutting injection events) and if the engine continues to rev to 7000rpm it will then hit the complete fuel cut limiter, set this to same as hard cut if you don't want it to do anything.

Map A: Rev Limit - Soft Fuel Cut Upper RPM Threshold - Above This Is Hard Fuel Cut
as per above this is the hard cut, ie. total fuel cut at this rpm.

Map A: Rev Limit - Multiplier For Soft Fuel Cut Time
this is a multiplier for how long and often it cuts the fuel while in the soft touch limiter mode. Think of the difference between the two thresholds as an RPM window, as you enter the window only the occasional event is dropped but the further you get in to this window the more frequent the injection events are dropped. The default setting does not needed to be changed.

Map A: Rev Limit - RPM Below Upper Threshold To Start Ignition Retard
so there is also ignition retard settings, so if you set this as 500rpm, and your hard limiter is 7000rpm, then at 6500rpm the timing will start being retarded which if set correctly will make the engine feel like its starting to nose over and hopefully you'll pull another gear before hitting the hard cut limit!

Map A: Rev Limit - Soft Touch Rev-Limit Advance Reduction
This is the amount of advance to pull out of the timing when the advance reduction setting is used, can be zeroed if you don't want this feature.
