E38 PCM Locked

This might be a bit too advanced for this forum, but is there anyway of getting a tune unlocked on a L76 E38 PCM?

what exactly do you mean, its a tune done thats been tuner locked or what ?

To Be Honest I'm not 100%

I also use HP Tuner software & they support these PCM's 100% & it says security access denied & doesn't even ask for a key or anything!

So may have been tuned with EFI live or something but can't get access to it either way, not sure if it's a pull apart job & read direct chip if thats even possible with these PCM's?

yeh i have heard that you can lock tunes with efilive. Yet another pia.

HPT & EFIL can both lock the pcm. Using a patch or Custom OS in either package will make it inaccessible to the other.

Yeah it is a PIA & it is custom OS as it's mafless & they only gained less than 20rwKw with OTR & 98Ron which I thought is pretty lame!

But not sure how to know what software(but HPT didn't even ask for a key or anything) & I only have efilive V4 & not sure if it's supported with that?

v4 is old obd1, you would need flashscan, was the car tuned elsewhere before, perhaps they can go back and ask for it to be unlocked or flashed back to factory?

That's not a custom os. You don't have to run a custom is on the e38s to get proper functioning mafless like the '0411 controllers. Chances are its just been locked before.

yeh its just locked... just need to get it unlocked and then good to go again
