Improve performance 195i

Post by senwagon12 »

Hi Guys, new to the forum. Have read a lot of the posts and i can't believe the wealth of information. I have a senator wagon with the 195i, fairly happy with it, Was hoping some one could help me out with advice on decel fuel cut and possibly getting some more power on the road. I don't believe that it cuts the fuel off when i decelerate, as in my wife's vt supercharged calais the instant fuel readout goes to 0.0 and my Senator only goes back to the idle figure of about 2.9. Was thinking if i could get some sort of real time program set up i could have a play. Any advice appreciated. Rob

will need more information, what model and series is it? if it's automatic it can be the overrun that's worn and not holding to so it wont engine brake.

Hi thanks for the reply, its a series 1. built 1997, and yes its an auto. Have rebuilt the box as it broke the sun shell. All big things in the box replaced, except solenoids. The car runs fine and goes ok. Thanks again, just not sure where to start. Have replaced coolant temp sensor, as i read somewhere it could be as simple as that, but not to be.

you can change the dfco settings in the memcal tune, based on throttle position and airflow, if it's not coming on at all it sounds like a vacumme leak though somewhere.

also have a read of the guides and a skim over the Q&A in the FAQ section here: https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... f=7&t=1396

That should give you some idea where to start and the kinds of things you will need to get your head around.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

For a VT you can use these two for RT tuning. Install is solder-less.
NVRAM - https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=166
USB ALDL - https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=622

You will need to disconnect the BCM for RT tuning (https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1990). Can log using TunerPro and then read/write using the flashtool without disconnecting the BCM.
