ke70 with buick v6, ecu question

Post by rx20na »

hey all
this is a little bit different then what everyones used too lol
well ive built a corolla ke70 with a vr v6 engine with a t5 manual box
i have at the moment a ems stinger version2 running it but it runs like dogs balls lol
sometimes it runs perfect then somethings the thing wont idle and it coughs and farts
for some reason it just wont hold the tune properly
it still uses the standard dfi module
so ive decided i want to go back to a standard delco computer.
atm ive got the standard vr harness but with it all torn down and re ran only using the main sensors for it to run.
i no i will have some rewiring to do but its worth it.
anyway i wanted to no what is the best option for the delco computer memcal wise.
i really want real time tuning as in the near distance future two turbos will be bolted to this motor.
ive had a little expernce with these ecus before as i had this motor but with a auto box in another rolla but with a flashed memcal
with the security removed and it ran really well with it.
any input would greatly be appreciated
thanks
heres a photo :)

Nice conversion, must go pretty well!

As your planning on adding boost the best MAP based option at the moment would be to use OSE 12P .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=356

Would need to run a VN/VP or VR manual loom with a VN/VP '808 ECU or VR manual '3082 ECU. Can repin the VR auto loom but will need to mod/cut the small keyway tabs on the loom ECU connectors. There are NVRAM and USB or RS232 comms boards to get real-time tuning here .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=14

it goes aright it ran a 14.6 but i feell i can get a liitle more out of it while its still n/a

wow i just read through all the features of the 12P and its crazy, theres more features then most top of the line aftermarket ecus on the market now

ill get a vn/vp ecu then, it will be alot easier. ive got most of the standard harness ran to the ems stinger at the moment, it wont be hard to add a few extra wires for the extra sensors i need and ill just solder on a vn/vp connector.

regarding the real time tuning, i dont really understand which adapter boards i need to run with the vn/vp ecu
reading through all that are for sale, i think i will need the nvram ecm conversion board and either the usb or rs232 communication boards, it that it?

also with the nvram ecm conversion board what type of eprom programmer would i need to load tune files on there

thanks

yeah thats about right, as for loading tunes, VL400 will load it with whatever stock tune you request, then via the serial/usb interface and the flashtool you can push tune changes to it, or complete 12p code etc. you would only need an eprom programmer if you corrupted the nvram, but a good one is the willem GQ-4X programmer if you do need it.

Just got myself a vn/vp ecu, it says on the box its a manual ecu, just want to no if it actually is lol
This will be good to start with cause i can at least run the car until i get all the add-on chips

hey mate, would be good if you could shrink the images a bit, say 800x600 ish before posting, makes it easier to see on the page. its an 808, all 808s are the same ecu. the tune AWUZ was a manual memcal but in a VN/VP you can run either manual or auto memcals in either a manual or auto and it wont make any difference.

Thanks for resizing them, i uploaded them on my phone and i couldn't resize them.
So there is absolutely no difference in a 808 auto and manual memcal? Why do they put auto and manual on the case of the ecm. So weird lol

Well, they are different tunes. But not significantly so. The T700 is not an electronic gearbox, so the only the thing ecu has to do is controll the TCC clutch. And I guess since that is so simple its not worth including/not including. Maybe they new the elecectronic boxes were coming in the future and wanted to get their internal processes in order. Or just have the ability to tweak things a little differently between auto and manual because they can make different assumptions about driving style between humans and mechanical gearboxes.

Just finished installing the standard ecu, it is so much better than the aftermarket one i had, it starts first go and runs like a dream, its definitely got more power, cant wait to get nvram chip!! I really wanna get rid of the stupid limiter lol
