Delco and dyno places
Delco and dyno places
I have been considering hacking a delco for a couple of future projects. When I mentioned it to the local dyno fella he looked a me as if I had two heads. His solution was a haltech with a not unreasonable chunk of money on the invoice. It's less the money than the opportunity to tinker and I like the hacking principle.
What experiences do people have with mainstream tuning places. Does anyone use dyno services for tuning?

Re: Delco and dyno places
yeah from what i've found places that maybe used to use kalmaker don't due to it being dos based etc, but some use haltech and will push that over a delco hacked up. i guess thats probably cause thats what they know.
the said i have tuned my car on the dyno with tunerpro and delco with realtime mods, and i have also dyno tuned a V6 Sprintcar, the guy hired the dyno and hired me to tune while the dyno operator worked that side of it.
worked pretty well, and from what i've heard of the dyno i used to tune my car, he is happy to hire out the dyno to people to do their own tuning but it all depends on the individual dyno i guess.
and where they are biased to their own product im biased to delco
but also i know it can do alot more than some other hardware out there and its cheap and reliable and yeah its just the vibe

going on vibes ive always gotten the impression that because it's not commercial they dont want to know, as there is no immediate service contact eg phone number, or at the worst end legal side to blame a commercial setup if it goes wrong. Business will be Business these days.
Personally delco all the way, has more features than some, it's free and here we try and support it the best we can and keep programming in new stuff all the time.

There are places around that will tune 12P or other delcohacking stuff for you, off the top of my head classic performance in adelaide is a very good shop that does, vx l67 getrag has a shop in vic, kojab has a shop up in sydney, and there are others. In my experience here In Adelaide I helped a bloke with a sprint car who had booked some dyno time at Jesters and the owner there had not heard of 12P, but once he saw it he said it looked good an he would be able to use it. Its just a matter of finding someone who either already knows it or is open to it, and that'll be a bit hit and miss. Generally speaking that'll be the type of shops that tune OEM systems, those that are single brand aftermarket types like only Haltech are usually less interested.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Re: Delco and dyno places
I have a chassis dyno and would be more than happy to help out with tuning a hack, assuming the customer can get the computer hooked up ok and its done well. My ideal scenario is to run the dyno keep an eye on things and let the hacker do his bit . In other word two heads are better than one
In my opinion and I do have limited experience with efi tuning the information I have seen and recieved off this forum is more accurate, helpful and speedy than the coaching I have recieved from other reputable efi manufacturers.

thats because we are here for the community to share the information the commercial guys want you to pay for !!!! they will give so much, the rest cost $$engybenjy wrote:In my opinion and I do have limited experience with efi tuning the information I have seen and recieved off this forum is more accurate, helpful and speedy than the coaching I have recieved from other reputable efi manufacturers.
the only thing that costs money here is the hardware modifications and in my opinion they are extremely well priced for the time and effort thats gone into developing them into what they are today (i know this because i have tested and helped develop quite a few of them!!)
Hats off to VL400 for making all this possible for us in the real world where we all arn't loaded!

I wish there were more of you!! Yes hats of to Ant and Vl400 and everyone else for that matter, we wouldn't be here otherwise and what's on here wouldn't exist in it's current form.engybenjy wrote:the information I have seen and recieved off this forum is more accurate, helpful and speedy than the coaching I have recieved from other reputable efi manufacturers.

Re: Delco and dyno places
Thanks guys, without the community support and members this site wouldnt exist. So far I feel we have acheived what we set out to do, take the mystery out of the Delco

This was the reason I initially started on the $12 code many years ago. All I wanted to know was why I had a code 24 on my VL (VR V8 at the time), kinda got carried away considering it was just a dud VSSHolden202T wrote:thats because we are here for the community to share the information the commercial guys want you to pay for !!!! they will give so much, the rest cost $$
