Startup tune needed please

Post by jezza351 »

Hi guys, been a long time, hope everyone is well
Im wondering if anyone can help me out with a startup tune for a 355 in a VR ss auto running a crane f288 solid cam, come 640 heads and twin t/b manifold.
Ill use it to get the cam ran in on the dyno and then do the fine tuning on the dyno, To date I haven't tuned this combo and I don't want to risk winding it over
until I get it to the point of running and wipe off all the prelube on the lifters/cam. Let me know if you need anymore info
Cheers guys

there's a few custom ones posted here which might help you make something. But really no safe shelf tune for dyno flogging, why not just tune it while it's on the dyno?

Na haven't lost my tunes , biggest cam on my list on here is a 286 crane which is hydraulic. , f288 is a solid and a much different beast to the 286 . Was hoping someone had already tuned something similar just to start up and run cam in, all tuning will be done on dyno once it's running , with spring pressures this cam is running I'd like it to kick straight into life and not have any excessive winding which can wipe lube of the cam and lifters and cause damage , not cool . All good will do the maths and work out ve's so it fires up , anyone had much trouble tuning a big solid with the delco before ?

I tuned 355 with a fair size solid cam 11:1 tp dual and 4barrel tb,biggest issue was idle.
I got it to idle in the end at 1000 rpm and got rid off the throttle hanging issues.
Took a while to get it all right, definately doable but its a challenge.
Apart from that it drove suprisingly well and went great-manual too.
