Hey guys, i have a brain teaser for you all.
I have a Holden VT Spak V6 commodore series 2, 2000.
Original setup - factory memcal with custom tune to suit larger aftermarket cam, exhaust, roller rockers etc etc car starts and runs 100%
I then fitted a remote start car alarm, but with VATS i could not remote start with the car locked. (which kinda defeats the purpose)
SO, bought a memcal with a factory tune and VATS disabled, - fitted, car cranks but doesn't start.
SO, i swapped it for another memcal with a generic "performance tune" to see if i could get it to start (NOTE - actual tune doesn't bother me as the car will run off an aftermarket ECU but need it to at least start off it for now) But car still would not start...
Next stage - i tested both of these VATS disabled memcals in a mates 100% standard ecotec engine vt. surprise surprise, the engine in that wouldn't start off either of them...
SO QUESTION TIME!!
- Are they both faulty memcals
- VATS is not disabled correctly? even though it can still crank?
- It wont start BECAUSE VATS is disabled?
Any help is MUCH appreciated.
VT not starting after VATS disabled

Re: VT not starting after VATS disabled
regardless of memcal it will not start as there is no valid key in the iginition.
Vats in the memcal only disables the engine computer waiting for the body module to say it has a valid key so to enable the injectors.

Re: VT not starting after VATS disabled
the car does remote start ( i have bypassed the key ring) but besides that, it doesnt start when using the key to start it either.
It doesnt remote start when locked (VATS enabled) and when i press unlock it turns it off, then it will remote start
Where as NOW, it will crank while locked. but just doesnt start, even when using a key it doesnt start, fit the old memcal in and works straight away.

Possible checksum error, change Program id to AA instead of A5

Re: VT not starting after VATS disabled
Sorry didn't explain that very well. There is a Immobilizer bypass module made by Directed electronics which i have used with one of my car keys mounted in it which bypasses the ignition barrel immobilizer ring. So with vats off, car will start locked or unlocked, which is what i am trying to achieve, rather then only working after i press unlock to turn vats off first.
reading up a bit more, i see the seller i bought the memcal off has quite the reputation "TRX100"
@damiandownie - i wouldnt have a clue what that means haha. i didnt program the memcal, i bought it as is,
Just want to make sure it IS possible to start a VT with vats disabled.

VATS is not off in the memcal then. If it is cranking then Key and BCM are happy.

It sounds to me like there are too many unknown devices hooked up in your car. Since you have a strange key bypass box, I assume its full of relays and connects the accessories, on, and start circuits for you. It could be something to do with it. Or, as said... vats is not disabled.

Re: VT not starting after VATS disabled
The bypass module only connects to the ignition barrel ring and to the key head, giving it the correct resistance to be able to think the key is fitted.
The remote start section only goes inline with the starter motor wire at the ignition barrell which is working correctly as it cranks still.
With these new memcals it now can crank with the car locked. So something has be disabled allowing it to do that. But it just sounds like it isn't getting fuel. What exactly does VATS disabled when engaged?

Re: VT not starting after VATS disabled
I have just been told that when a write to the memcal has not been done correctly the engine fans come on straight away? which is what my car does with the new memcals fitted, my original one does not
