VT Getrag Speed Sensor to VR Auto pcm

Post by AJS85 »

Hello All,

Got a couple of problems, what I have is a VR SS 5.0 that was an auto and someone has put a VT 5 speed Getrag into it and wired it up so reverse works.
only problem been that there is no speedo, since the VR auto speed sensor is a reluctor type sensor and same with the getrad is it a matter of getting the signal to the pcm?
If so does any one have any information on this?
Is the Blue/White wire from the autobox to pcm?

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

The VS V8 auto wiring is almost identical to a VR. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =32&t=1352

Speed sensor in is pin B5(blue/white) and B6(tan).

The wire for the speedo is pin C12 (violet/white).

Thanks for that.
Got the vss hooked up to them wires blue/white and tan, the idle changes but still no speedo.
What other tests can I do to see where the problem is?

do you have any hardware to see if the speedo is working inside the computer ?

Have ordered the hardware to see what the ecu is doing, might just have to wait for it.
I'm in the process of restoring this SS

Just on another note with the (Speed sensor in is pin B5(blue/white) and B6(tan).)
Only just clicked to me that the Getrag speed sensor is only 1 wire and an Earth
Now B5 been Vehicle speed sensor signal high and B6 Vehicle speed sensor signal low.
What would need to be done with this problem?

Its no problem at all, the getrag uses a reluctor sensor just like the original auto sensor so it wires to both wires on the PCM. It does not have a wire that goes to ground. The getrag sensor wiring tail may even have the same colours as the VR wiring.

Ok I got the hardware and now i can see that there is a road speed signal going to the pcm but nothing seems to be coming up on the speedo, typed 2 cluster and made sure the wire from the pcm to the cluster was good, also how and what flags do i have to disable in tuner pro rt to spot all the auto flags?

Try setting the 'manual transmission option' flag, then run the car and clear the malf flags that come up that sound like auto errors. Maybe 24, 28, 58, 59, 66, 67, 69, 81, 82, 83. I have not tried this, Setting the manual flag might be enough. Let us know.
