Same guy has on his berlina as good bumper with only the following damage.

my modified T5 bell housing done. bottom holes enlarged for M12 size, bolt head area spot faced to gain room for the new bolts, matting surface machined flat to remove embedded dirt and damage from previous n00bs who used this bell housing. Its 2nd hand from a wrecker.

Still trying to sort out the right side support brackets, thats given me a lot of dramas

on the side, My yonger brother's falcoon is truly on its last legs, (broke down like the 20th time already) so the same guy I have been getting VP parts from, his dad had this for sale, so my brother bought its and currently we ( I am) fixing it up for the road worthy.

Goes great but a lot of electrical problems due to some ass hat installing all this non functioning shit everywhere inside the dash which only caused faults with the normal functions of the car.

yes it has a VN bonnet on its. its alright for P plater's car

yeah my vacationer had tons of breakages in the interior parts, also the dash when I installed a new one. Got heaps of practice on it so I became a pro at it.

soldering iron is the best tool, micro blow torch is also handy.

removing all of the paint now. right down to the factory E coat.

acetone or thinner washes off all the factory acrylic leaving the primer and/or E coat behind untouched.

while removing the paint I discovered our etch primer didn't stick to sanded bare metal at all and thats what it is designed for :?:

stuck way better to the old paint and that I was told is a big no no, for metal only. Glad I am taking it all of now. I don't understand why the etch primer has been so picky despite over the top OCD like prep? Maybe it was the brand Hi chem as I couldn't find anyone selling the wattyl at the time when I ran out. had lots of drama with the Hi chem shit as 2 tins were a bad batch.

I think I will just scrap the etch primer idea and use regular ol auto primer.

great way to remove paint chips from the car on the plus side, just wash them away

finished another door trim today as it was just warm enough for the vinyl dye.

Maybe this will shed some light on your etch primer woes:

yeah thought as much, the batch date on the hi chem stuff was like 18 months. it was off for sure.

reading that, it makes since why the etch sticks to the e cost so well as that it epoxy based.

the wattle stuff seems to work well and does state use on steel but still is only single pack.

guess I must use 2 pak epoxy coated over with acrylic primer or just acrylic primer by itself.

Note a lot of progress. just slowly chipping away at the old paint to do it right from the beginning.

Bit of a learning process this has been but should be good once done.

About 5 or 6 layers of paint on top of the factory primer and ecoat. so 7 or 8 in total. If I had gone ahead with the paint job over the old paint that would be 10-12 layers in total

finally found bog on the body, this sections was badly hacked with an angle grinder, for no apparent reason. f**ked if i know? towelheads for sure did this paint job. The bog just fell off in sections when I poked at it.

yeah I would say that too, the bumper was also badly repaired in that area, as well as the bonnet, and front quarters and left doors and boot was average lol.

So is seems I just need to drill out the tack welds on that bit under the tail light and weld in a new section. Their repair has damaged the metal beyond viable repair  once i clean off all the old paint on the roof without finding any repairs then i know I am all good.

2 doors are in the same situation, been repainted so I am not sure what to expect under the paint. Can't see any dents from the inside as far as i can see so just hoping they are still good.
