Yeah, fairly much gotta hope it doesn't rain to often when you have all the electrical accessories going hard

Finished the new cable, I will endeavour to fit it this weekend. I also noticed yesterday arvo when sorting cable lengths that the poor old alternator was bloody hot, could only really have my hand on it for a second or two

speaking of batteries, the one in the missus' ute was starting to have problems holding a decent charge, so I tried this stuff:

It worked a treat! I just put the recommended 15ml in each cell and put the battery on charge overnight and now it is going great.
at less than $8.00 I think I'll get a few more bottles to put in a few of my other batteries.

Interesting.

Battery is holding a good charge, if anything it may be getting over charged. The other day when doing testing battery voltage was 12.89 volts and was a couple of hours after it was last driven.

Yep, i've used that INOX stuff, the last battery in the missus car lasted over 10 years......

yeh battery voltage may not be an indicator of issues, mine overall was fine, though checking each cell if it's not sealed is a good way to check for a bad cell.

Battery is probably less than 2 years old, probably about 18 months if not less. I'll try and test it. I'm hoping that the corroded wire joint is more of an indication that it's a wiring fault causing my issues.

Replaced the cable this morning. The alternator end showed signs of been hot as well.

I'll see how she goes, it still seems to have a decent voltage drop between the battery and the ignition fuse, about 160mV which seems excessive so that may need further investigation.

I'm also wondering about the condition of the alternator, after replacing the cable I had the ignition on without running the engine so I could test connections. I could here a weird noise coming from the alternator? Quiet a high pitched continues beep type noise???

My VT does the high pitched noise from the alt with ignition on engine stopped, I don't think it is a problem.
