1st time tuning, but some small problems
First time tuning and using my work car as I want to get lean cruise on it.
All sweet so far until I noticed the dashboard shows little to no vehicle speed, I have no problems with actually speedo, the plug from the car loom to the ECU loom is ok so it should be transferring the signal over.
VP VP btw, with T5 manual. 808 running RT and 12P v111 with the included V6 BLCD cal.
So it appears lean cruise and the associated table are all working. The tracer slows I go into the tables areas of lean cruise but the target AFR never goes leaner than 14.7. So I found on the scalar section "Lean cruise: min vehicle speed" which default is 68km/h and since my speed is not showing as working on that dash could that be the problem?
Also while I am at it.
2other things I would like to get an opinion on.
1. after a while of the engine off but ignition on, which the DA going and looking through the setting but not changing anything. my car refused to start. tried tuning on and off the ignition, reloading the stock cal and whole bin. still would not start. only fully powering off the ECU at the fuse fixed the issue.
What would of caused that?
2. with my old tune. which i had done for me years ago has under low rpm hard launch a flat spot, like below 1200rpm and 100% load. the scenario is I need to make a dash for a gap in the traffic, launch from stand still but doing it carefully not to spin the wheels, hence low rpm and high load. So initially the car gets moving, clutch fully out, then flat spots for the 1st few meters of acceleration then comes alive after it get over it.
Now with the BLCD I noticed it also has this slight flat spot and when looking at the ignition maps I found the corresponding area in the tables to have virtually 0º advance. Running the tracer, and blipping the throttle as well as off idle in 1st then stomping the gas shows it stumbles a bit when it hits the 100% load 800-1200 rpm cells are are 0 to few º in advance but rapidly advances in the adjacent cells.
I will post a pic of this soon. So is that likely the flat spot I feel?
I would like to get this flat spot out as its a pain in the ass in Melbourne traffic. yesterday I proceeded to zip out into a gap, then it stumbled and the engine reversed which sounded like I came close to blowing my gearbox then it took 10 sec of cranking to restart. thats the worst it ever happen.
cheers,
Vlad.

Re: 1st time tuning, but some small problems
ok if your using $12P you'll probably need to change the speedo PPK setting from 6xxx whatever it is to 1250 that the vp is looking for
that's should also allow the lean cruise to work as expected.
i'd not be changing too much stuff till you get all the weird stuff fixed and make sure everything is doing as expected first!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

where would I find the speedo PPK setting?

in $12P its in the scalars and is labelled "Road speed params - Speed sensor constant Pulses/Kilometer"

Re: 1st time tuning, but some small problems
Thanks! the speedo works now, but the lean cruise doesn't.
I set MAP A lean cruise option flag to set.
checked the MAP A lean cruise tables and there are delta offsets around where you would expect the car to cruise in which it does when i took it for a ride. Still the target AFR stays at 14.7. the offset in the lean cruise table is 2.3 or something like that.
Also realized something, the injector rate will be different from the VR. I think VR is 20.5 lb and the VP is 19lb
Whats the scalar called for the injector rate?
EDIT:
my 0 280 150 917 are 138 g/min which is @3 bar 18.25 lb according to the injector rate calc on this forum and also same as those stated on various website.
my injector rate worked out to be 0.137 so i have to plug this value in if it isn't already the same.

yes, and also confirm that AFRs are correct with a wideband, or if you dont have one, check that the narrowband isnt reading continuously lean or rich. It might still require a bit of a tweak from calculated to reality.

Re: 1st time tuning, but some small problems
I just have the NB atm and seems to swing continuously from lean to rich, i recall something from 150 to 800mv swings or something along those lines. So I gather thats normal closed loop operation.
I need to know how to do a log, I noticed when doing a full power run from 20kmh to 105kmh in 2nd at WOT somewhere around 4-4.5K rpm there is knock and pulls up to 8º of timing.
on my engine I have long runner extractors ( pacemakers), and large bore TB with I guess would alter engine characteristics a bit

Re: 1st time tuning, but some small problems
there is also setting for lean cruise, delay before it will activate after taking off, I actually lowered this value to have it work more often.... I think it was a couple of minutes from memory, so that might be why your not seeing it active.

Re: 1st time tuning, but some small problems
Got it! thanks man, that was it. The road wasn't long enough for the delay so I shorten it to 30sec. default is 150 sec
another small issue which you will see in the video, the min temp for lean cruise is 85ºC . My car operates at about 80ºC on open roads and yes I do have a 92 thermostat and I have tried a new one before with same results even confirmed with a temp prob inside the hose on the stat housing early last year. All our VP in the house run cool like this, mine the most since I have no AC condenser on the front.
is it safe to set the min temp to say 80 or 78 something like this?

The guide here .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... =10&t=2223.. has a screen shot of TunerPro on page 3. You need to start logging and then click the record button. When finished click stop and save the XDL file.vlad01 wrote:I need to know how to do a log
