vt series 1 hsv 5.7 conversion problem!

Post by craigles23 »

I have put a motor out of a vt hsv, the stroker 220i but i am having issues getting it running
with everything hooked up it wont crank but if i earth out the starter relay it will crank fire for a second then die.
i have had the vats removed on the memcal.

the only thing i have found is that pin F8 on the pcm is crank sensing and from what i can tell is ment to have 0volts until cranking when it should then have 12volts. for some reason my pcm is putting 12volts out of pin F8

Im really stuck with this, so any help would be great!

cheers

Was it the HSV loom?
If so will need to remove the embedded security system (ESS).
You will not find any wiring information on it, but on a VT loom it is fitted under the centre of the crash pad. Try to power up the fuel pump relay directly to a power source rather than through the ECU to check if vehicle will start and keep running.

would you happen to have any idea what the ess wiring looks like? so a 98 hsv vt would have had this extra wiring?
okay ill give that a go.
At the moment it loses injector pulse straight after she fires

I looked into pin f8 a little more, is it possible that this pin out is used for security cause for a moment when the key is first turned on it has 0volts like it should, then jumps up to 12volts?

are you sure the VATS was removed? losing injector pulse right after it fires is normally what happens in a VT when VATS kicks in.

Yeah i just did a bit more testing and i think vats ma still be on. if i turn it on and hit start straight away it will fire and die but if i turn it on and wait a second the hit start it wont even crank.

Im trying to connect up to to the ecu but i cant atm, tuner pro rt says the cord is connected and working but i cant seem to connect with flash tool. any ideas?

so your running a nvram then i take it?

If not you'l need to remove the memcal and reburn it with vats off.

Check you have set the preferences in flashtool correctly.

so your using the realtime bins from here

https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... f=27&t=613

Also with flashtool use the "VT Eco or S/C on Bench" Bench option being that there is no BCM. Otherwise the normal setting will look for a BCM.
