hi guys i need help ..i Have a TG Gemini ; G200Z 4 cylinder with a late model rodeo injection manifold running a Delco computer .. Its a neat ride did 16.1 sec 1/4 mile.. I will soon be going Turbo with a custom plenum and stuff (main parts have all ready been sourced) ...
What i need to know is where to go to get it tuned for this and whats involved cost wise and the major pro's and con's and why i shouldnt just go microtech or something .. bearing in mind that im not a whiz kid and will be paying a Delco guru to do the work.. Ok so I live in PERTH.. any gurus here wanna Help me out .. in english please .. will add to members ride soon

If its already running delco then it shouldnt be a hard conversion. In general terms you should only need a 2 bar map sensor (available from ebay or numerous sources around the net. Probably about $70 to $120 depending where you get it) and the OSE12P software for your delco from this site (soon). If your ECU is stock then you might need to add a high speed comms board. This is also covered on this site and is not difficult or expensive.
You will need a way to put an updated tune in the ecu. The options are a real time board from here (approx $200) which is the ultimate, or an EEPROM chip and chip burner, which is cheaper but must be pulled out the ecu to be written too, or a 32kbyte EPROM chip which must be put under a UV eraser light source for 5 mins or so to erase it. Works, but is a PITA.
Theres a few guys on this site running delco powered geminis. I have one running my G200W, and have a project Bellett in the works with a rodeo 4ZE1.
Be careful who you get to tune it, many probably wont want to touch it and will try and sell you their complete system, or knock it without understanding it, but if you find someone with an open mind who will take a look and give it a shot (preferably someone who already has skills in a few different systems) you should be sweet. The delco with the right software is a great solution, technically superior to a haltech and cheaper too, but if the tuning shop sounds iffy on it and doesnt sound keen to learn then try another shop.
I could recommend a place here in SA but im no help for Perth. My current G200W tune is in kalmaker but I'll soon be swapping to OSE12P (free, and with more features) after which I'll post my tune here, which would be a great starting point for you. Depending on your current tune it might be good for a few extra KW and some more torque compared to if you have a stock camira chip now? You can see the gains I made over the camira tune here https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... 38&start=0

Yeah i dont know a lot about my setup as in; if its a stock camira chip? or a tuned Rom? and dont really know what im talking about .... But still got previous owner's phone no so i can ask him i guess.. He did say something about gettin it tuned and making 100 hp.. which is what the performance calculator estimates i have with my 16.1sec 1/4 mile run..when i Rang C-RED tuning (who helped previous owner) they said it would cost thousands to put a boost map on it and weren't to interested and suggested Haltech Plug and Play unit..
Thanks for your advice ... any one else wanna help.. who's in PERTH ??

VL400 might know a place in perth that tunes them
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

There are a few places in PERTH that can tune delcos, the majority will be using kalmaker so try this page for a list of kalmaker tuners..

Or you DIY it with the info from this forum

i cant really understand this stuff tho..So if i get someone to tune with Kalmaker ..what does that do.. ie : burn a new chip..
or whats needed to use Kalmaker and Boost.. see what i mean .. this is way over my head..
..But i can see it being far easier than Aftermarket Ecu..Seeing as its already runnin Fine..

kalmaker will cost you around $1100 for the software alone, then you need to hire someone to tune it. If you use the software available here (OSE), the software will cost you nothing and then you need someone to tune it. you could open the lid on your ecu and take a photo of whats inside and post it up here as a starting point. If you already have a kalmaker tune with the security device attached (quite possibly you do), then you might not need to buy kalmaker to swap over to a boosted tune as a kalmaker shop can probably use your existing security pal. If you already have a factory tune then we can show you how to read it, and probably how to make enough sense of it to use it as a base for your boosted tune. But as you dont seem interested in that then you just need to pay someone what they ask to do it for you. No problem with that, but the best way to save being ripped off is still to learn enough about efi that you can tell when your being "taken for a ride".
To use a delco '808 ecu with boost, you need to use the correct MAP sensor. MAP (manifold air pressure) is the device that measures how much air is going in to the engine. The standard one, also used on many GM and daewoo vehicles and others is known as 1 BAR. Which means 1x atmospheric pressure. It measures the amount of vacuum in the manifold (normally aspirated) but peaks out at atmospheric pressure, and you will need it to support positive pressure (boost). You can get 2 or 3 bar map sensors. 2 bar max is about 14psi and 3 bar is about 28psi of boost. So depending how much boost you want to run you need the appropriate sensor, then your hardware should be ready. Then you need software (OSE or the right versions of Kalmaker) that is written for boost, then you need someone to tune it.
You should allready have a full compliment of sensors including exhaust o2 and speed sensors as well as manifold air temp, and water temp. You can make it run without some of them and program it to not throw an error but its dodgy and will run better with them so its worth researching where they would be and seeing if you have them.

ok im starting to get it .. So i buy a map sensor . .. take a pic of my board so you guys can tell me what i got.. download this software OSP###.. Then find someone to tune it or attempt it myself ! ..
Once my board or ecu is modded to suit the software .. what then..does it just hook up too a laptop or ... I cant see some shop wanting to use Software theyve never seen before .. but i do know someone who wks at a efi joint and also does Electric Engine Conversions ... Maybe theyd give it a Go ... but he has no dyno..hmm..

the pc software to use is tunerpro from http://www.tunerpro.net/ its well known and you should be able to find places that know how to use it. I'd suggest not buying anything yourself and getting the person whos going to tune it to supply, fit and tune the whole lot. but if they start saying you are going to need much more than a 2 bar map sensor + delco software + tuning then be wary of them and probably speak to another tuning shop before making your decision who to go with.
