Re: The1's Daily

the only time ive seen v6's do that to a gasket is with lots of untuned boost i bet its pinging its arse off with all the oil its got on them pistons ive never seen pistons so black and oily in a v6trikky73 wrote:took the heads off today after pulling the engine out knew I should have taken them off first but anyway rings are OK
no need to tear motor down, just need to check that it has not been warped
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

[quote="vlad01]I don't even know any dynos that do holdens, all that I am aware of do shitty fords.

most dynos will be happy to hire out the dyno or let you do the tuning etc ... ring around and ask, rates, options etc.
a lot of places will say they don't tune commodore because they don't have the experience or software etc

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: The1's Daily
Sure can, either MACE or ZZP have MLS gaskets to suit the ecotecs.vlad01 wrote: on a side note can you get MLS gaskets of ecotec? that would be the best!
EDIT, actually would the MLS be thick enough? the ecotec i have the deck is higher than the block by a substantial amount.
Ecotecs use a .060" thick head gasket to allow for the piston protrusion from the block
Re: The1's Daily
engine is back in, just need to connect all the wiring back up
pistons are nice and clean now too
yeah looked at the MLS gaskets, only place I could find that had them wanted $195 each
hopefully no issues when I kick it in the guts tomorrow

I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
Re: The1's Daily
Seen this many times. Exactly the same. As delcowizzid said.
Re: The1's Daily
Trikky's is N/A no boost, so wonder what happened there, bad gasket or are those rings to small? Definitely copped a bit of oil! Did you notice any missing on the dipstick?
Re: The1's Daily
up until the issue started the other day no oil consumption issues at all, plugs were always the right colour and exhaust was also wht it should be with running on LPG 95% of the time.
As soon as it started exhaust went real sooty and it started using oil from the amount that was been blown back into the inlet thru the PCV
I think I may know the cause, simple stupid mistake on my behalf, looks like I forgot to oil the heads of the head studs when I torqued them down first time round which would have caused me to not have gotten them to the correct torque setting, surprised it lasted this long
Luckily for me no damage to the block or heads

Re: The1's Daily
Be careful when purchasing std type head gaskets, as they came many different thicknesses which can bump the compression up or down.
