its not just my experiences, dave has seen a lot come through his workshop with the same issues!

I vote the problem lies in the factory ecotec tunes not turning turning the fans on till over 100 DEGc !!!!

thought that was a VS ecotec problem only. they suffered all the problems as they were the first revision. Never seen any post VS ecotec with these problem.

also I noticed only VS commodores broken down on that heat wave 2 months ago, like 90% of the cars broken down on the highway over that fortnight were VS.

So clearly there is a cooling issue with VS's

Nope, did some more tests, the knock happens here and there despite engine temp and appears to be ambient air temp related. cool outside i get it happening, warmer air does not show any knock no matter how I try.

soon as I have got some free time i will make a log and post it in the other thread i started.

I've had a vt motor with cracked heads, but that's it, vs and vt.....

i'm sure its more related to people not servicing the cooling system etc rather than anything else though.

VS seem to have restricted air intake for the radiator is what I noticed especially with crap and bugs blocking the radiator.

My mates VR also used to over heat occasionally on hot days, it had 130k on the clock and was in good nick.
