Tuning issue

Post by v8-tuning »

Today i tried to tune a vr manual 355
It had some aftermarket imobiliser and
I could data log ok.
However i tried altering the tune and burn to a chip
and the cel comes on and barely runs.
Load the original tune and it runs and i can log.
Tried my emulator and same thing cel comes on
runs like crap wont data log and if i hit the data button it
just stalled.
Tried the orignal tune and same thing.
Any ideas?ive never come across this problem before
and tune plenty of cars without any problems.
 Not sure whats going on with this car.

Make sure your not burning just the cal segment if its a tuner pro generated bin. When using the plugin there is a check box to read only the cal segment which makes reading much much faster. If your using 12p and your not sure use the flashtool and get bin or post what your trying to burn and we can check its OK.

Not using an nv ram or 12p just a moates 2.0 emulator
and vr manual tune ,works fine on other cars just not this one.
Just this car for some reason would barely run and not data log
if i loaded a vr manual tune or even the stock tune vr manual tune
and cel light was on.
Copied the orignal tune in the car to one of my memcals this tune
has been modified by someone btw its not standard and
no prob, runs and data logs cell is off also.
Modified the tune and will barely run,hit the data key and it stalls.
Never seen anything like it.

Just checked it with an id tool and came up as $5 kalmaker s vs v8 50L revision A
I would say thats my issue when modified
Still dosent explain why it runs on this tune and not any of mine.
Abs light was on the whole time too.
This is the tune attached but i modified the ve map, spark, inj rate and idle
without knowing it was kalmker.
I could get another read possibly unmodified.

Yeah thats definately one of your issues. You wont be able to edit that one with the regular XDFs (and a suitable one probably does not exist).
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Ok would the abs light coming on have anything to do with it?
I noticed in the wring the data line goes to bcm and abs.
The abs light was on with the original kalmker tune too.
Anti theft was tried off and on in the vr manual tune.
Could a faulty abs module cause the data issues im having?

if anything the abs module has a fault.

You can bridge pins with paperclip like you do to get ecu fault codes with the abs, might have fault code list here somewhere.

Well still had no luck.It will run on the kalmker tune but
not anything else just goes into limp mode with moates emulator or
one of my programmed memcals yet any other car no issues.
I suspect the ecu has been modified somehow and thats why
my gear wont work.
Anyone come across this?
If another vr manual ecu was plugged in would that work?
it should i would think if i can find one cheapish.
