vt tune
Hi. Im new to tuning but im looking to see what changes have been made in the vt 220i tune over the standed vt 5.0 tune.
any info you guys could give me would be great

not sure for what purpose you wish to know? but the 220 engine is physically different to the standard 179kw engine. stroked to 5.7, different cam, larger injectors, etc. the tune is simply altered to suit the different engine characteristics.

long story short, you cant make the 220 changes to the stock tune and expect the same results!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

I have a vt with a 383 stroker motor in it with 775 injectors and was hoping that the 220 tune would be better than the standed tune untill I can get the time to get the car on a dyno

You can use TunerPro to compare the changes between two bins, there is an $A6C 220kw bin (CFZD) and 195kw bin (CFZC).

I don't know how to read bin files and stuff so I was hoping someone on here could break it down for me in a way that I may understand, ie timing changed, injector ect.
running a 220 tune on my 383 compared to stock 5.0 tune what difference would I see? more power, better fuel economy, better idle?

well air is metered by the air flow meter so your extra cubes wouldnt matter, but given the injectors are bigger the 5.0 tune might run a little rich. unless you have a massive cam and inlet manifold, then you will run out of injector at full throttle.. not to mention the spark map is desinged for 8.5:1 compression, does your 383 have raised compression? it might ping on the stock tune. 5.0 tune will, in short run like arse.
given the 220 tune is designed for the larger injectors anyway, it will suffer less fuel problems but the same spark problems so it would run like less arse. until you get a proper custom tune done to suit your setup, I would be driving it slowly and not hit full throttle at all on the way between your house and a tuner.

thanks that's the kind of info I was looking for, I had to back the dizzy timing off a bit as it did ping a little. 383 is running 10.5:1 comp.
so only thing ill see different running the 220 tune it will not run as ritch?
