The VR bin has all the TCC PWM code in there, its to make the TCC lockup smoother, just was never used until later. Id say its going to be a case of going through a VS bin and loading it to a VR bin if you want that function setup the same (there are some cal settings done for TCC PWM in a VR bin). Running a VS bin on a VR will cause an error to be set, but like jayme said I dont think it happens the other way around running a VR bin on a VS.

Setting up a fully featured XDF for all the different VR and VS bins is a very large job

Here are the different variants of trans too...
VR 1994 - 4HDD/V6 - 4HBD/V8 first electonically controlled auto.
VR II 1995 - 5HDD/V6 - 5HBD/V8 extra solenoid fitted to provide softer "LOCK UP" torque converter clutch apply.
VS 1996 - 6HDD/V6 - 6HBD/V8 the design of the previously added solenoid was changed and is not backwards compatible with the previous model.
VS II 1997-7HDD/V6 - 7HBD/V8 basically the same as the 1996 unit except the thread size of the cooler pipe unions was enlarged.

Jayme, just been talking to Antus.
I am having issues with connecting to the ECU Navram in this vehicle.
VS Series one with Navram programmed as VR BMZC Mod.

Can connect and upload/download bin and cal with OSE but cannot communicate with TP5
I do have logging data but cannot connect to emulate ( hardware not found ).?????

Have you got VATS turned off? If its still on it will be flooding the bus which TP does not like, if the flashtool will connect try writing cal with VATS disabled.

I believe Antus has just updated the plugin to 1.45 to fix a detection bug for VR auto realtime. also make sure you have echo enabled in the settings

sorry im not clear on waht you are saying? echo needs to be set as per the interface you are using... the under dash ALDL adapters generally are echo on. you will always need echo on if you are using the plugin on this car.

Hi Jayme, just trying to clear this up.

I initially could not get the data to read and found ( without emulator hardware selected ) that I had to have echo turned off to read any data.
From this point I could not connect to hardware unless I turned echo on.
On turning echo on and selecting hardware to connect and then turning on data I have everything running???.

Hope that explains it a little better..

Now on to the VR / VS issue.
With a VR cal the trans logs fault codes ( no MIL ) for various solonoids and will not go into covertor lock up.
Drives and has all gears except lock up.

With the VS cal loaded the trans works correctly and no codes logged.

However I need to have more access for XDF parameters and trans control in a VS file.

Add note VL400's ALDL USB under dash to 16 pin plug and using Antus plugin.

Also using a separate PC scantool to log live data and codes ( Both engine and trans )on the DYNO as a secondary back up check.
