The only other thing that's a bit annoying is that the vs a/c compressor and bracket to the block which is also the engine mount bracket is different to the earlier vn to vr compressor and bracket so you have to use the vs compressor and bracket which means you have to degas the a/c and regas

yep! and the clutch wire plug is different, different gas a well if you putting in a vp or earlier. Vr use the same legal gas as all car do now.

Also the biggest pain in the ass of all is the ecotec support bracket to T5. Apparently it exists but i have never seen one or even pics of it. its VS T5 only part.

You can modify a VT-VX auto left side bracket to work but the right side is a no go, I still can't work out how to do it for the right.

lol I just realized, you have an auto, never mind :silent:

i can take pics if you want ive got the vs to t5 brackets on mine and the vn-vp can support r134a a/c gas instead of the old r12 if its had the retro fit you can tell if it has had the retro fit by either the sticker on the accumulator or the a/c gauge ports have fittings on the end changing them to the newer type fittings

yes I know about the retrofit, several things need changing, in addition to what you said oil, seals TX valve(different orifice size?) additional fan for the condenser(r134a has higher temps on the condenser side)

can you post a pic of your t5 bracket?

on my VT auto brackets, there isn't enough metal to elongate the holes to make it fit, the holes line up outside of the bracket material for the right side one. The left one works ok though.

Both brackets looking from the front of engine at bellhousing

Tried to get a pic of the right side but exhaust and steering rack get in the way but its pretty much an exact mirror image of the left side

i was a bit lucky with that stuff i have access to a wrecking yard my mates dad owns and they just wrecked a vs t5 ute at the same time i decided to fit that engine. so i got the flywheel and the brackets as well as a spare t5 for free. as for the vr they have the steel sump on them this has the alloy sump and having the thicker sump bolt mounting points the brackets then hung to low and couldnt use them were as these ones as you can see bolt to the side of the sump.

that's exactly what I need. the pre ecotec bracket is soooo not suitable for the job.

Can you see if you can get me one? none of the wrecker in Melbourne have or had them in years they reckon.
