808 304 Conversion help

Post by pheonix83 »

hi guys.
im in the process of putting a holden 304 5lt in my hilux.
engine is in and im at the point of wiring the thing in.
i have the stock VN auto loom and ecu that came with the engine but i have a few questions.
1. can i disable the ecu from requiring a vss signal.
2. is there anyone here that has done this before that i can bounce ideas off.
3. what other issues will i come across that i havent thought of.

any help would be great

thanks

1 = yes
2 = yes
3 = it would be handy to know what issues you have thought of for me to tell you the ones you havent :D

its pretty straightforward electrically for a VN conversion. burn a tune with the VSS disabled, and open up the tps stopper a bit so it doesnt stall when you press the cluutch in after slowing down (no vss screws this up a bit but its a easy fix, just winding in the throttle stop screw a bit)

are there any bins uploaded already with vss disabled ?

only issues i have been wracking my head around atm are what to do about the vss signal and nutting out the engine harness wiring to splice with the hilux.

If your using the std VN ECU there are no security vats that I am aware of? The wiring is actually quiet simple you just need to separate out the engine management part of the loom and a couple of powers and a few earths. Once you have a look at it you will see it's not that hard.

The loom is easy to modify to suit any car but it is very daunting if you haven't done it before.
I've had people send them to me to be modified before, takes a few hour's to do a neat job.

There's diagrams on here just find the pins on the ecu that need power and earth and trace out those wires.
Also Dont forget the power for injectors and coil, it's not from the ecu.

Get into the code to disable the engine light coming on for that fault. Maybe increase the iac steps when slowing down to help.
Looked into nvram and $12p code?

Increasing the iac steps when slowing down wont help as he has no vss.
The only way I know of is like has been said and wind up the stop screw on the tb.

itll work fine to begin with on a stock memcal. you only need to turn off the speed sensor error code to get rid of the check engine light.... it doesnt affect the operation of the engine at all, so you can get it all going now and worry about the memcal later.
