Re: changing from auto to manual
You just need to change the settings in the memcal you do not have to touch the bcm.
Also I think something in the pcm or the harness has to be changed to suit the vss input

Re: changing from auto to manual
follow my thread, doing the same. Quite a number of wiring differences interfacing the wiring.
I have a VS body loom which I have cut open to see if I can make a better and seamless job of converting it.

Re: changing from auto to manual
turbovr, I had a PM from another user who said you unable to PM me. You can PM me by clicking my user name but I dont have a VSS fix for the VR auto PCM running a T5 manual. A heads up on the ebay converted VR auto PCMs you were looking at. This is an example of what you can get ... http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic. ... 100#p27115
Masking the auto codes is easy (which is all the ebay seller above did to make it a manual for VS
) but the VR manual uses a hall sender while the VR auto PCM is looking for a reluctor type signal. You can run it without the speed sensor but it wont be 100%.

Re: changing from auto to manual
i still can't pm you for some reason. i'm not too good with all this ecu stuff lol. if i get the auto codes removed you say it won't be 100% what do you mean by that? will the car still run properly? reason for the manual conversion is i'm in the middle of paying off a turbo kit and i know the auto box will not last long at all. with the speedo sender i can just run a wire up to the ecu and splice into the purple wire and use pos and neg wires off the auto light surround?

Re: changing from auto to manual
if you just get the auto codes removed that will be all, the ecu will not work with the speed sensor, usual issues are stalling coming a stop, possible speedo issues. You can help the stalling but bumping the idle up a bit. But for a better job need to get the speed sensor working correctly.
What error are you getting when trying to PM Vl400?

Re: changing from auto to manual
Yes and no. It can be used but will need a bit of wiring changed (either repin your loom or swap over the VN loom and mod it) to make it work as essentially a VR manual ECU. It will mean the speed sensor works with the ECU and you keep all the idle control working as factory. Will also need the memcal reprogrammed (can use your current auto memcal) and SXR mod (http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=398) if you want to keep the antitheft system working.turbovr wrote:..the series 1 ecu is useless to me?
