VR manual conversion with VN loom RT 808
Re: VR manual conversion with VN loom RT 808
Manual uses power button wire's for reverse lights. They are in the engine loom and go to that plug and use power button wiring as the auto uses the selector switch for reverse lights not the box.
When doing auto manual conversions the power light on the dash is illuminated except when in reverse, how did Holden fix that? They didn't fit a globe in that spot on manual models.

Yes the wire is free to use now. I know what you mean Dylan, I saw that they loop the power button to the reverse supply line. I will get rid of this and set it up line on VN/VP
I will use the blue wire for the VSS and on this plug I am making split it for the cluster and ECU.
So looks Like I got it sorted more or less.
One question I have for VL400. Does your VR under steering column USB adapter require any other lines besides the serial data line? I noticed there is 2 black and white wires remaining on my plug, I assume these go to the ALDL connector under the steering column?

its weird how sometimes photobucket flips photos upside down even though its the right way around on my computer.

I flipped it but might take some time to update.

It needs only ground on pin 4 and/or 5 and ALDL data on pin 9.vlad01 wrote:One question I have for VL400. Re: VR manual conversion with VN loom RT 808
ok makes sense. I can use the black wire on the ALDL plug on the VN loom and patch it though to my plug in the pic.
I gather the white with black stripe is the same wire you jump on the VN ALDL to get diag mode? Might as well patch that though as well so I can do this under the steering column.
will have to finish this next weekend, off to Newcastle for a week doing a job.

Re: VR manual conversion with VN loom RT 808
So I fitted the loom externally on the car for testing, plugged in my adapter and did some tests. So far looks right.
Just need to add the serial line on the ECU loom and the high speed ALDL board added to an ECU and I am good to go on to the rest of the project. Then I will make the T5 plug and play patch loom and test out VSS.
here is a video of the under column diag plug working with 808.

another video, this time I have made my patch loom for the T5, also plug and play.
only problem I noticed is the VR speedo is clearly calibrated for the higher pulse per Km and reads really slow. you can see this in the video.
its good though as I wanted to change to a VP speedo anyway as the VR are lacking gradients that I like in the VP cluster.

Re: VR manual conversion with VN loom RT 808
vp speedo wiring goes to dash first and then is fed to ecu at a lower rate of pulses vr it gets fed to ecu then dash.the dash should read correct no matter what just the PPK needs changed in the 808 if you are feeding it direct from the vss.
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

when I change the ppk to 6400 or what ever it is, they read the same. Is that correct?

So yeah, its finished, seems to work. I will know for sure once I have gone over the whole car. So far I got the auto removed and manual shift plate fitted.

If you are wondering, the green wire is for the WB.
