My Delcoed Rides
Re: My Delcoed Rides
Looks promising, I wonder what VL400 could do with something like this?

Re: My Delcoed Rides
hahaha yeah too much cost

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
well i spoke to the converter guy and he seems to think i need to just run it and see what it does and if it stalls wrong they can always modify it .... so thats what im going to do

Re: My Delcoed Rides
sooo, went to the drags yesterday.....
converter is shit, same results as on the dyno, 5500rpm as soon as i take off, and also low MPH....
so first run, did it on the brake and backed off at 3/4 track, 12.8 @ 89MPH, second run decided to give it all it had and use the 2 step launch, as you can see in the below video i fucked the launch but still only managed a 11.8 @ 120MPH .... take note in the video, right on the line it made a funny noise and then sounded like a tractor!
i thought it was a head - exhaust manifold gasket, but further inspection at home revealed half the head gasket sticking out of the exhaust side of cylinder 2.

mind you it was hot and running 19 psi boost in 3rd!
so wrap up for the day, gearbox is awesome, shifts are instant and firm as, E85 seems to work ok as far as tune goes, but i need to sort the converter and i think i need to run a bit less boost for the poor old head gasket

Re: My Delcoed Rides
Bugger, need to work on the 2 step a bit more.
Slippery, good in a woman, not in a converter....

Re: My Delcoed Rides
Might be time for some "o" rings & a copper gasket. Did you use the same timing with E85 as with Methanol? If so, may need to alter the timing slightly for E85. Convertor is definitely loose.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah i did because the timings always been really conservative as i've never put anymore into it on the dyno cause of the converter or the box slipping.
