Eprom emulator

Post by 9c1vs »

I am doing research into real time delco tuning as idont want to use my haltech platinum sport anymore. I know to do this in terms of hardware i need an nv ram chip and a usb to aldl cable.

Just wondering,is it just possible to keep an emulator plugged in perminantly instead?

Sorry if this is a silly question

The only down side to that is if it's with nvram you can do tuning & logging over the 1 cable!

Rather than 1 cable for updating the emulator & another for logging!

Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

I would like to put my standard vs v8 manual computer back in. The haltech does the job, but there are a few things i dont like about it. I find haltechs ecu manager software easy to use, but i think i can get my head around tuner pro rt 5 and how to get it set up.

I see why the nv ram would be better now. I want up and down load so i can tune on road.

At this point i think all i need is the chip, cable and then i was just going to put in the base map and ignition map values i have in the haltech to get started. I assume i would need to trim the ve numbers so i will also be getting a wideband. I intend to get a bigger cam soon also and i want to tune it on road as well.

The engine is a 355 stroker, 10:1 comp and 276 crane cam. As for the tune it wont take much timing as it pings as soon as the temp gets. To me, the cam is just too small which is why i want a bigger one!

Plenty of people run EPROM emulators permanently but you would want to mount it securely up under the dash away from passengers feet and to stop it flying around on the floor.
