VS series 3 5L VATS

Post by Mikestech0 »

High guys
I have the original BCM and key pad coming for the V8 i brought so i assume i will have no problems running the engine in the Torana
I was wondering about the VSS unit that came with the getrag box, I have sold the box with the sensor...
Is there anything i have to do with regards to a sensor as I'm putting in a ford 6cyl T5 behind the 308?

you have a few options... you can get a t5 to torana speedo cable made up, then run with no VSS at all if you disable it in the tune, or you can get the speedo cable made up with an inline VSS. or you can run the normal T5 VSS and replace the guts of your speedo with VN-VS speedo internals (not very easy).

on the last option, you can also get electronic speedos from vdo and similar, they aren't that cheap but allow you to have everything you need and calibrate the speedo to suit your setup.

The standard memcal uses the reluctor sensor input on the PCM with the getrag box. If you get a modified memcal that uses the alternate square wave input on the PCM it will work with a T5 and can T off the wiring.
