yeh just get one of the $2 hills hand spray bottles from the garden section, fits right onto the bottle, it didn't have any thick sludge but id imagine after a few goes it should remove it.

yep ive sold a few parts so am going to order stuff for the M90, picked up a 10psi pulley for $70 just standard press fit, got a belt for $25, so just need to buy the rest and rebuild it, just waiting on a mate now to get the crane and put it up on the stand then can start stripping it.

Anyone know is ecotec & S/C sumps the same? i know the gaskets changed to metal ones from VT

Had an offer $300 for the gearbox, so might take that, still thinking at this stage ive talked myself into keeping the rockers and try out the crow cam to suit rockers. All depends how it all looks when i pull it apart.

Im sure the only different sumps where in the VY as they where bigger and some kind of trans support for the manual trans, could have been autos also..

yeah sump is the same from everything I have read, yes on the later models the sump was different to suit the one piece bell housing
only rods/pistons/cam are different on the bottom end
crank/block/sump the same

so wondering if i should find and fit a VS sump anyway then, seeing my new gearbox is the older 1 piece housing. Could just fit my N/A one up i guess. I have new bolts and gasket for it already.

If the VY can fit try and find one of them as they hold 1L more oil.

I read you also need the dip stick somewhere.

since you are going to use your new box, I would go the VS sump
if you want the extra capacity just get an external oil filter like the one I have, will give you close to a litre in extra capacity as well as having a bigger filter

the extra capacity is just the dip stick, sump is virtually the same.

I have a few sumps, don't use a VY sump, you will never get t to fit the older gearboxes as they have these mounting ears on the back.

my VX Wagon has the different dipstick with the extra range, though i only put the same amount of oil as my vs. Ill get the engine on the stand so we can have a look inside the bottom and go from there.
