Not a lot has happen. After finding more and more hidden unrepaired/dodgy repairs I have decided to leave it and move on.

Rather than just not doing anything the go is my vacationer. Its all original when I got it, have had it for the last 7 years or so (bought it off family member) and know it inside out. Body is very very straight for its age.

So far I have 1 additional NOS left front panel.
2 NOS door sill repair panels.
Finally picked up a CORRECT VP badge lol
VS ecotec intake also NOS.
VP vacationer boot domed decal NOS x 2
radio surround trim NOS with hole for rubber tray locking tab (finally a way to make the tray stay put, I noticed this feature in the VR)
charcoal velvet roof lining fabric.
VP steel blue NOS seat fabric.
And the much unobtanium T5 ecotec support brackets :cash:

Next on the list is NOS beaver panel and supports (i bashed mine up over the years as a work car loading things in the boot)

2 things impossible to get, spare wheel well panel and battery tray, will have the well panel beated and minor rust fixed. battery tray needs to be completely refabricated from another example as there is nothing left of this one. Battery is half way fallen through lol

My plan is to have the body work required done professorially as I don't think I am upto a level of skills to satisfy myself. I know a guy but very hard to even get in contact due to how high demand his restoration work is. Paint guy I might finally have as well. An actual car painter who does restro work as well as it is his passion. Seen the work and pretty happy with the standards.

Also some changes of plans for the engine. Due to the lack of info, parts other than stock and high cost of utilizing ecotec rod and piston combo, as you might guess forged versions of them are drug money.

Rather I am thinking along the lines of L32 genuine rods (forged powder metal) and custom JE pistons of 4032 11% Si alloy around stock ecotec CR (9.4), skirt coating as well just like stock L67 do. The rest will is virtually a stock engine. What I am thinking about and has me quite excited is also a raptor SC. I am very impressed with what the raptor SC can do for these engines especially if you don't want turbo.

the raptors dont make for a fast car but you get a taste of boost.you will get sick of sending it in to get the belt replaced and rebult LOL.for the cost if you can weld you could be turboed for cheaper and have a car that can hand out an arse whipping

depends really, there are that many advanced in the raptor over the year that they have now leading edge technologies over the others on the market.

On ecotec stock engine they easily make 350-400hp plus flat torque curve across the range. The flatter the torque curve the better the acceleration. So far the results have been impressive in VY and VX but as far as I know, no one has done a raptor ecotec in a VP or VN yet. I can't even imagine how fast it would be since they are 350kg less heavy.

I personally don't like turbo that much, even little bit of lag drive me nuts. I want instant response from idle.

I don't know about cost. you know me, I would opt for the best quality stuff for turbo and I can guarantee that it will cost me more.

As for the maintenance of the raptor, in the works is a maintenance free magnetic drive system. there is also other optional parts like super light billet impellers and clutched drive pulleys for those want reliability and maintenance free.

raptors make good HP but you dont spend that amount of money to do 13-14's on the 1/4 a stock vn will do a 13 once stripped right out LOL

lol I am not drag racing, not even interested in driving styles like that. I don't even do burnouts either.

hill climb and mountainous road racing would be closer to my driving, handling being #1 priority and instantaneous response low end to broad power band is what I am looking for.

only NA or SC can deliver my requirements, cost and hp is less of a concern. 8-)

worth looking at.
http://www.speedspares.net

got a delivery, with 80% NOS parts I couldn't find anywhere else.

even the elusive clutch pedal return spring and chrome Holden script for VP/VR

been looking for those for years.

front end coming apart.

I have all new boge struts, superpro bushes, road safe joints all sitting in a big box ready for some fun.
I will get my PS rack reco as well while I am at it. Its loose as. Holden never seemed to make a good rack from factory.

Yeh hopefully the magnetic system makes for a better product and makes more boost as well being able to spin it faster, hopefully gone are the days having to send the thing in for new bearings all the time, it all depends on what you want, for me i just kept my eyes open for a deal, the deal i just picked up once i sold the gearbox, wiring looms etc the engine was free! So only paying for parts. For a daily driver in my case the M90 will give good bank off the mark.
