VR Auto Coverted to Manual VP

Post by yoyoyo469 »

I have a VR auto currently have purchased a complete VP to do a manual conversion.

If i install the box and then follow these instructions http://www.chiptorque.com.au/wp-content ... uction.pdf to get the bits working

can i just put a manual tune onto my existing ecu (i know they use different $12 manual $11 auto can these just be swapped via a tune?)

or

should i just install the VPs ecu that has the box and then uses the equipment below to make my changes?

i am going to purchase a adal cable and nvram from altus however have put this onhold until i can get the gearbox sorted and know what I actually require.

you'll be best of using the 808 with a $12 tune in it.....

but you will also need an SXR chip in the 808 to allow it to work in the VR system. either that or find a VR Manual ecm which has it already in it! but good luck finding one!

you dont NEED an sxr chip in a VR.... the only thing it does is the anti theft.... if you are happy without VATS then you can save the cash and just use an 808.

i dont care for the anti theft

if the car runs with the chip torque solutions could i just use the current tune to turn off the auto bits in the auto tune?

Yeah you can do that, the PCM wont know the vehicle speed so you do lose some drivability when it comes to idle control.

So from what I read the vr manual is the same as the vp if I just swap the vp manual memcal for the vr auto memcal would it work?

yeah vr auto was the first 'different' computer. Quite similar but not 1:1 compatible. Has hardware changes to be able to run the 4L60E electronic auto, and runs 11P instead of 12P code.
