the journals on the cam look a little scored. Lack of oil supply in this one. And lack of oil changes too and/or cheap shit oil by the looks of the staining on all the engine parts.

as above ^, looks like debris was coming though the oil galleries.

I also noticed the #6 was ashing into the head from the imprint on the piston.

Yeh that's what im thinking, i could tell as i was tearing it down that nothing had ever been touched on the whole engine. Like it was driven and given the odd service but nothing else. Ill have to check all the rods and check for roundness as well. I can see on #6 it's worn a gouge out on the inside where it spun so it's not flat anymore, so ones gone, not sure on the rest yet, they look ok but havn't measured. Yeh from the look of the heads and pistons i thought it'd been drinking some oil, head gaskets looked fine, no issues there, though valve seals are prob stuffed and LIM gaskets were well and truely gone so they prob just ran it out of oil till it started making noises, shame.

Here's the crank

wasn't there a crack in the sump?

i wonder if they hit something and the oil leaked out killing the engine?

the journal damage gets progressively worse as you head towards the rear of the engine. Was definitely low on oil supply or pressure.

Yeh wasn't much left of the bearings on #6 so id say the extra clearance would have made the distance.

could be right, yeh it was, not a visible crack, but in a spot where all the oil would leak out.

yeh ill be on the hunt for another crank, for the time i have it'l prob be another 6-8 months till i get back to it, so between now and then ill try and save some coin and ill get it all cleaned up, prob just get new internals, save the hassle and make it reliable again, get bores done for new pistons, but anyway who knows at this stage.
