Hey guys
just wondering which one of the scalars are for fan parameters in the $FB xdf.
all up there are four parameters
OUT FAN LOW CLT 1
OUT FAN LOW CLT 2
OUT FAN HI CLT 1
OUT FAN HI CLT 2
im guessing that the fan hi is for a secondary fan and the 1 and 2 parameters are for cut in and out 2 being cut in temp and 1 being cut out?
and while im at it how does the kph scalar effect the fan i thought it was once its over the set speed in the scalar it turned off but ive watched it
while driving and the fan still comes on well over that speed or it did while i was having cooling system troubles anyway.

Re: $FB fan parameters
i didn't think it had two speed fan options .....
i guess change one of them and see if it works, like set it to 50 degrees or something
from what i can see, the HI is the temp it will turn the fans on, and then LOW is when it will go off again.....
in the bin im looking at (BAAM) its showing
OUT FAN LOW CLT 1 = 95 DegC
OUT FAN HI CLT 1 = 99.5 DegC
OUT FAN LOW CLT 2 = 104 DegC
OUT FAN HI CLT 2 = 110 DegC
so whichever you change, make sure you make the HI and LOW suitably adjusted so the HI is always more than the low ....

Re: $FB fan parameters
thats what i thought i was looking at exactlly the same bin as you and came to the same conclusion. and your right they didnt have a 2 speed fan but its not to say they didnt have the programming in it i mean look at the amount of crap vl400 removed from $12p heaps of unused things.

so 2 speed fan was already in BAAM?Holden202T wrote:i didn't think it had two speed fan options .....

Re: $FB fan parameters
yep you know the 4x flex outputs in 12p ?? well one of them in the earlier codes was a 2nd fan output. not used by holden though.
as for which of them is the fan output that holden used - High or Low, I cant remember

Re: $FB fan parameters
just tried it works all ok
OUT FAN LOW CLT 1
OUT FAN HI CLT 1
are the normal fan output controls hi being cut in temp and low being cut out
leaving CLT 2 to be parameters for fan 2
but still what with the road speed parameter that all of the programs have in them how does it effect the fans

Re: $FB fan parameters
looking at the stuff i have for $5D (i assume the same) it says Main cooling fan and auxilary cooling fan, where auxilary is fan2 in this doco....
so that being said i'd say you can safely say the 1 options are what you need.
fan on when any of the following:
* code 14 or 15 (coolant sensor failure)
* coolant temp greater than HI setting
* a/c enabled and the road speed is less than KPH setting.
then for the fan to be off, all of them have the be:
* no error code 14 or 15
* coolant temp below LOW setting
* a/c off or the road speed above the setting.
so that tells me even above KPH X it will still be on iff the engine is still too hot!
the aux fan is more basic, no a/c effect just on / off and road speed.
weather it actually feeds any information to any of the pins on the 808 plug maybe VL400 can answer ?

Re: $FB fan parameters
There is a fan speed scalar in 12p, probably also in FB. Its a max road speed for fan, and I think the default is 80kph. The logic is that when your above that speed you have the airflow through the radiator anyway. If you turn it to zero thinking you always want the fan to run you get the opposite - no fan ever as your always on or above that speed.
