ok so where do i start .....
un-eventful trip to Sydney, absolutely freezing stepping out of the van, then 30 minutes later finished scrutineering and i reckon 10 degrees warmer!
first run out, it popped in the burnout and i was a bit sus about that, but it had been missing a bit on and off like a plug a bit fouled, i was hoping a nice flog down the strip would sort that out.
so sure enough the whole run was similar, launched hard then .. pop! next gear off we go again then pop!
so went back to the pits and by this time the thing was missing the whole way down the return road.... new set of plugs in and it was back to normal, so figured issue solved back to the staging lanes!!
2nd run same thing, i worked out by then it was getting to bang on 6000rpm and just shutting down, like all spark was lost then would pop and go again .... every gear 6000rpm pop!
so back to the pits and emailed VL400 ... screwing around, checking the rev limiter numbers in the ignition module tune and crank trigger and such ... nothing looked out of place, changed the rev limit to 9000rpm, revved in the pits, pop! 6000rpm
thankfully VL400 was on the computer and got a reply email in like 5 minutes, when logging the ignition module and revving it, at 6000rpm the error count would increase a heap every time.
so sent him that log and 10 minutes later the reply "you don't have a soldering iron at the track do you ?" FFAARRKK!! so got in the van and punched supercheap auto into the GPS! 30 minutes later and $50 we are back at the track with soldering iron, extension cord and a roll of solder!
the call was remove risistor 5 first, test then if it is still doing it remove capacitor 5 and re-test..... so removed R5 and plugged it in BROOMMM 7500rpm fuck yeah baby!!
so put it all back together and went out to the staging lanes for third run, which was a saga too .... had heaps of time to gather myself because i missed my lanes run by about 5 minutes, so in the car and strapped in with plenty of time and go pro on, data logger on, FARK sd card for it is in the laptop at the van ....
totally forgot to press record on the go pro, no data log, and hoping for the best, wastegate screwed in to the max and all or nothing was the plan at late enough in the day to possibly only get one more run if it doesn't work!
then doing the burnout, barely even into second gear and the car is heading for the wall! backed out, then stabbled it again, seemed to grip up ok so fingers crossed!
staged early cause old mate was slow getting out of the burnout and to the line etc, had it on the two step rev limiter for like 10 seconds, if thats not max boost off the line nothing is hehehe .... launched nicely, then on comes the boost and we are just g-forcing it up!! felt really good, started to catch back up to old mate, and then second gear just kept going strong, clicked third and ooohhh yeah no missing still pulling hard, and i knew it was going to be in the tens!
driving down the return road pretty happy everything just worked ... get to the tunnel and andra person pulls me up .... is the car teched - yes, do you have a suit - no, well your going to have to pack up mate you just ran a 10 .... hell yeah buddy happy to put it on the trailer
i knew it definately had a 10 in it but i was thinking 10.90 or something, when i saw the time slip i couldn't believe it!!
